If the dealer hasn't already given her the trouble codes, I doubt very much at this point they're going to. The "I'll call you back with that" probably means they didn't document them initially.

A failing 12v is well known for causing some weird issues, and it's one of the easier and cheaper things to check. But, as you say, knowing the codes would be the most helpful.

the codes are your best bet, but if they won't get them again, she should demand her car back and take it to another dealer. but it wouldn't hurt to check the 12v in the meantime.

    Son of a B...........

Question, is your car's value over $4,700? If not you might want to consider some options.

NOPE.... I bought the car for almost 10k. My dad wrote me a check for 4k so my monthly payments would be less. I owe 5k on the car still. I haven't even owned it a year.

    I am soooooooo pissed.

Contrary to what people may think of me I can occasionally input some helpful information. :) MelissaAnne if you check eBay there are numerous DC Converter's for sale on there for 04-09 Prius in the 600 dollar range.

Yes, look for a Prius inverter. The DC/DC converter is part of the inverter. The inverter is not particularly hard to replace as long as you take measures to avoid shock hazard.

Can you have them email or fax you something in writing with the exact part and work they intend on doing for that quoted price?

From what I have been reading it seems the dealer is reluctant to put anything in writing. So I take it on our list of good and bad dealerships your dealer sucks.
