I live in SLC and sold my 09 Touring with everything for a '11 III.
I would get about 43mpg on a typical 70 mile trip in my '09. First time on the same trip, no wind, in my '11 was 56mpg. I was stoked. The old gas bladder used to drive me crazy every fill up. That's changed. I tried to inflate me tires on my '09 and that wasn't a good idea in foul weather conditions. Haven't gotten my '11 in the snow yet, but I imagine it will be lousy in the snow also. Steering wheel adjusts, my '09 was fine not moving. I do alot of driving and had high miles in my '09. I'm happy with the better mpg and no more bladder. Other than that, not much difference. Anyone want to fill me in on other bennies the new car has that I haven't noticed yet? I have had it less than 48 hours!:)

It uses lower viscosity oil 0W20 that improves mileage.

Larger ICE is more fuel efficient and provides more power.

    Hybrid system uses higher voltage

You can use stealth up to a higher speed before the ICE spins.

It has improved traction control (so I've heard). Better in snow.

    More airbags (I think)

    Wider OEM tires.

    Height adjustable driver seat.

    Larger passenger and cargo space.

More head room for rear passengers.

The glossy console in the Gen II scratches more easily.

It no longer uses a thermos. The new system uses a heat exchanger, I believe? It may warm up faster.

I feel the HSI indicator is very useful. I've driven Gen II's and feel the touch tracer is easier to use than the touch screen. In truth though, I'd probably get used to the Gen II interface and use it as well as the Gen III.

Yeah its a much better car but I wouldn't trade an 09 for 11. I have a bit more patience than that. ;)

The only time I got down to 43 on the MFD in my 09 is when getting ready to sell it - I gassed it up a mile away and drove it home. Took it on test drive with 4 in the car. Another test drive with 3 in car.

When driving solo in decent conditons, trips over 10 minutes in length, it would get 46 Winter and 48 Summer.

In continuous suburban driving, it was always very high 40's MPG, like 48 or 49. 8k worth or gas receipts came out to 50 MPG at the pump.

3rd gen would usually show 53 MPG on display.

I still have both=2009 Touring loaded and a 2011 IV solar. I am getting 56-58 to work on the 2009 and my wife is getting 58-61 on the 2011. She won't let me drive the 2011 (her car).:) The 2011 came with very nice tires (GY assurance) and I am running 44/42 cold on both cars when I remember to check:lol:.

The dealer delivered the 2011 with 32/29:mad::mad::mad: and it was weaving on the road at high speeds.
