Lets all make Thai happy! The new prius is on another planet compared to our sh@t box genII prii. It is definitely not a econobox like us genII owners cars. It is everything a car should be in a class in between economy and luxury. Dare I say taking a quote from another automaker "It is the ultimate driving machine" I hope we here at prius chat have helped stroke your ego and insecurities about your decision to purchase a Prius V. Lets please end this thread so people will move on to other topics.:faint:

Careful TLP .... you're really going to tick off the resident Prius V-ATP fanboi with those reasonable thoughts ..... Pretty soon you'll have him saying you're jealous of him and/or you can't afford one ... as all the rest of us non-V-ATP owners are .... ROTFLMAO :D

We have enough trolls that crop up from time to time (whom the moderators refuse to do anything about). Pick your fights with them, not the regular posters here.

    Best to pick your battle!

Yes. Overpriced econobox. I have owned and driven many cars. Currently I have a civic, bmw, rx350 and 2010 prius. I compare the prius to my sister's corolla in its driveability and overall feel to it.

With all the amenities standard on a Prius? A/C, power windows, door locks, smart key, push button start, CD player, etc, etc.... no way it's an econobox even in Prius II.

    Agreed..

To me the "econobox" label is suited for the Fit, Yaris, Elantra, Cruze, etc. and even then only in the stripped down models. Todays "econobox" is so much more advanced and provides nicer ameneties than the original econobox cars like 1980s Civics, Geo Metro, Yugo, Chevette, Rabbit etc.

With so much emphasis on 'fun to drive' makes me wonder what people expect out of their cars. I don't drive new cars hard, I drive 'em pretty easy. They are expensive and will just wear out with more thrashing.

So, the Prius is comfortable, practical, highly efficient and drives very securely, though not 'agile' according to CR. Fairly quiet inside. Far cry from an econobox.

Seems like some people are a little too spoiled with cars these days.

the prii are just cars. some have more stuff stuck to them than others. the whole "econobox" or "not econobox" thing is just a matter of personal perspective and doesn't appear to me to serve any purpose to this community. it sounds like a bunch of airplane passengers having a flight-long argument over which seats in coach are the best. who cares? order a beer, take a nap, read your magazines... whatever.

there. that ought to keep the thread going a little longer.

So, your response to this obviously insecure Prius V owner is to ask him if he's homosexual and if he has a "partner"? SERIOUSLY?

Did anyone else find this comment offensive? I sure as f**k did. I'm gay and I'm definitely offended by it. Where the hell are the moderators here? How a discussion on a Prius chatroom can devolve into this kind of crap beyond me. Why don't you guys grow the hell up and get a life.

Rev, here's a thought...why don't you throw up some facts, instead of insults.... Geez.

Revhigh, remind everyone here why you think it is an econobox? Fair enough question. Have some facts to back it up too...since MACMASTER has been slapped in the face with REAL facts and has retreated into his little shell. Maybe you should do the same? Oh wait, you and Stream will wait till the next opportunity to throw some random insults...pretty pathetic and stupid IMO.

BTW, can you show me a $100 Garmin that has Adv. Tech Pkg?? Sams Club? Walmart?

You just luuuvvvvv making enemies. Lol.

You can cut the one liner about us giving "facts." There's nothing factual about this thread at all. It's purely based on people's opinion about what an econobox is.

    Mods, let's close this discussion.

Yeah, eff political correctness unless they're putting YOU or YOUR FAMILY down - then you might not see it as political effing correctness, but as an effing slur. Then see how effing thick YOUR skin is.

Accusing the offended person of political correctness has become the standard retort of people exhibiting boorish behavior.

I don't know, he said homosexual. At least he didn't say f** or c**ks****r or fruity f**k or rainbow trousers. Now that wouldve been horrible.

In a world where up is now down (becoming increasingly reminiscent of a combination of 1984 and Brave New World), a typical response by the intellectual elite would be to suggest there is no such thing as political correctness.

I have a cousin who is "homosexual," "gay," et al, bean. That doesn't mean I have to walk on seashells in order to avoid "offending" someone because of my stance on such a lifestyle (if you have defied the statistics, and a small percentage obviously does, congrats to you).

Wow.....we have certainly run the gambit on this thread-huh?

At least I can point to this forum as proof positive that not all Priuses are being driven by latte swilling elitist snobs..... :D
