Another benefit of the Prius v, CT200h and HS250h are that have a quieter ride than the Prius Gen II or III and have a smoother ride (they are optimized for it.)

Regarding the v, c, plug in, etc - I tell old lady 'bout all these upcoming cars and all she says is "hmm depends what it looks like." As in implying she don't mess aroun' with Gen IIIs. GRRR!

Please Toyota! Make a car that old lady will like!

Oh yeah, Prius 5/Five has extra rear wheel liner for quieter ride...so, yeah, 5 rocks, but you know that i was going to say that at one point in this thread! :D

I actually like the lines of the G3 over the G2....but there are many people out there who prefer the G2 over the G3. I don't have much stick time in the G2, but I can see where somebody would prefer driving it over the G3...and she's right about that stoopid crossed bunghole emblem and the atrocious rearward visibility.
Sorry.....but if hates the way the G3 looks and drives, and she loves driving a G2, then that's what she should be driving.

I think your mommy should consider a Gen 3 Package V with ATP. The nose emblem is different and she'll like the 17" wheels and heated seats. It really doesn't matter whether she likes the looks of the Gen 3. She got past this hurdle with her son and this suggests that the same will be possible with a car.

    Don't. Just don't OK.

While the Gen III is EPA-rated better than the Gen II, unless you're hitting the highway hard, for people actively seeking better mileage the Gen II is more efficient.

Let her drive the car into the ground.

Besides, if she has a fat purse the Gen III console sucks.

To my knowledge gen III drag coefficient is lower than genII and motor is 1% more efficient unless I am incorrect how is gen II more efficient?

I don't have any time in type, but I've read where the G2 is easier to hypermile. YMMV.

I'm not going to help turn this thread into one of those stoopid "my car is better than your car" goat grabs.

If she doesn't dig the G3, that's that!

    ^^^^^

Yeah, it seems in terms of mileage Gen II is easier to hypermile, but Gen III is better on the highway.

Someone else I know who has a Gen II told me they love the way the Gen IIs look, but that the Gen III looks too "mean". It's interesting how a few curves are the difference between "feminine" and "masculine".

Good luck convincing her, Mac, I'm sure years of persuading the ladies will come to your aid :p (just don't try the same tricks on her, it's your mom, ew!)

That is true...once a woman makes up her mind about looks, that's it. Case close. I have been trying to get my wife to like the TSX Sportwagon, but she hates wagon...so, our conversation was rather short.

I think that Prius V is her best bet.

Seriously if you look I own a genII so I don't know Wth you get off I am just stating a fact then gen III is a better car! And I highly doubt his mom hyper miles so for regular driving habits genIII is more efficient

Why would you want to try to change her mind?

    She prefers the Gen 2
    • She has some valid reasons for that preference that are not based on misunderstandings.
    • The Gen 2 is a fine car and she knows exactly what she will be getting
    • She can probably get a much better deal on a Gen 2 than a Gen 3 and it will probably end up costing her less.
Just because the Gen 3 is a lot better for me or for you does not mean it is a lot better for her. The most significant benefits of the Gen 3 to me just don't apply to some people and she is quite likely one of them.

One thing you guys should know is that she drives kinda slow (hypermiles w/o really knowing it) so the Gen II makes her more of a target w/ its looks. Safely, but slowly. Its one reason I was trying to push her towards Lexus or the Gen III. Maybe itd get the tailgaters off of her. Idk, whadya think?

I didn't find that - in 9 rentals, the 3rd gen was always crackin' about 52 MPG combined where the 2nd gen was about 48 under similar conditions.
