Hello all, I just had my 5K mile maintenance done to my car. I have had it since 19 Feb, and already have 6K miles on it. This car continues to amaze me.

Anyhow, Roseville Toyota team worked quick today, and they even removed the reverse beep free of charge! Woo Hoo.

What service did they perform exactly?

I took mine in at 5k also and they checked and inspected various things rotated the tires and sent me on my way. I will bring it back at 10 or 11 thousand miles for it's next visit and oil change. With 8782 on the clock it will go back probably next month. I have been racking up the miles....

I am only taking it in for free before my Toyota Care runs out. Otherwise I will more than likely do my own oil changes and other maintenance. I did the first oil change at 1075 miles.

They just rotated tires, top off fluids and brake inspection. Not too much going on for this interval. I am assuming that I will be in for an oil change in a few months as quickly as I am racking on the miles. :)

Did they charge you any money?

Judgeless, all the work they did, to include turning off the reverse beep, was free.

    Judgeless, would you:

Raise someone's car, pull 4 wheels off, do a visual inspection of brake pads and lines, reinstall the wheels (rotated), drop the car, torque the wheels, check and top up all fluid levels...,

    FOR FREE??

I know with the move to the 10000 mile oil change interval there's not a whole lot left in the 5000 mile US service, but the tire rotation and the rest does not do itself. Someone has to sweat a bit to accomplish it.

Personally I would not mind compensating them a decent wage for a decent job. If you think they'll do that for free you're deluded: if they do, they'll pad charges on something major, the "difficult customer" charge.

I personally never need tire rotations: doing my own snow tire swaps. Also, no matter what Toyota says, 6 mo oil changes works for me still. But that's another story ;)

Toyota claims free maintenance up to 25,000 miles. I would expect tire rotation to be included.

I would not rotate the tires and inspect the breaks of anyone’s car for free. I do rotate my tires and family members for free. It is a simple job.

Yes, Toyota Care does include free tire rotation for 25000 miles or two years.

When were you at Roseville Toyota? I spent hours there yesterday.

Ok, I guess that's a US thing. Sorry for the tone.

The latest common marketing ploy by the manufacturers is free routine maintenance for x years/thousands of miles. It's a good way to keep the customer away from the indy shops. I'm sure it is treated like warranty work & costs next to nothing.

I'm pretty sure the dealer is compensated by Toyota. Mechanics as you said do not work for free.

Dubs, I was there from 1130 to 100pm. I was waiting in the main showroom floor.

Come to think of it, I turned down a gratis first service offering by my dealership, preferring to do it myself. In Canada oil change is still part of the first 8000km (5000 mile) or 6 month service.

Funny! We were there at the same time. Killing time while our dog was having surgery in Loomis, DH and I spent time watching salesmen and customer service people drive my Prius around, figuring out how the auto parking feature worked.

Then we spent about 40 minutes in Jessica's office (near showroom) while they figured out how to order the one millionth badge/stickers for us, talking adoption, new babies and sharing dog pictures. We got two badges for two of our Prii while they refreshed the stupid nitrogen that came in the tires (don't get me started).

Left right around 2:00. I'm on my iPhone so can't tell what car you have but I saw another white one in the pick up area as we were leaving.

I was wearing jeans, an orange top with a brown military style jacket that is shorter than my top.

DH was wearing jeans, a polar fleece jacket over long sleeve t shirt.

Jessica's office is on the right as you are walking back toward the service department. There were five of us on her glass office.

Robert (DH) remembers seeing a family of four (?) eating lunch when we were shaking hands with the manager of the dealership.

Robert was wearing a polar fleece vest-not a jacket. He was wearing his favorite MBT shoes.

Next time I go, I think I'm going to ask if there are any Priuschat members present.

That was us...sitting at the round table...I do vaguely remember Robert as I was looking around. I take it you and Robert stop by Roseville Toyota quite often?
