My favorite book is Exodus, particularly Exodus 21.

I find Exodus 21.7 very relevant to today's world: "When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. If she does not please her master, who has designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed; he shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt faithlessly with her."

I almost sold my daughter to Jayman, but then I remembered that he was Canadian, so the deal was off.

Exodus 21.20 is also pretty good reading: "When a man strikes his slave, male or female, with a rod and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be punished; for the slave is his money."

Good medical care is essential. There were a couple of times that I thought I was in for it, but good medical care kept the slaves going long enough to get me off of the hook.

Exodus has a lot of other useful advice, but I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader. You just never know when you might need to buy a Hebrew slave.

    Open your heart Tom.
Then you can sell your daughter to Jayman, but he cannot sell her to GrumpyCabbie.

It is funny how the deniers seem to focus on the OT. Daniel was the only one that even mentioned the NT... why is that?

    Stev0, I will start Sunday.

Maybe it's the Jewish blood on my mother's side. Her family was tossed out of Spain in 1492. Or perhaps, like movies, sequels are hardly ever as good as the original.

To a Christian, to quote some of the Torah (or Old Testament) by a skeptic often comes off like this:

A visitor rants about why they hate America...They have slavery, only white male adults owning land at least 21 years of age are allowed to vote.

Y2K is not something to be nervous about. Y2K38 is... That is not going to be fun. 19th of January 2038, we are all doomed!!! Unless software patches are released, but it is so close how will we have time?!?! :D

If you don't know what I am talking about, it is when 32bit systems that rely on the unix epoch to keep time (i.e. everything) will overflow 2^32 bits and reset to 0 (a date in 1901).

The OT was more direct from god. The NT has been bastardized by fallible humans. God never makes mistakes the word of god is perfect (his words not mine). So when he dictates a book, what gives the readers editorial privilege over it? Surely you should rely on 2nd hand information rather than 3rd hand information. I am sure we have all played the "telephone game" where the message gets garbled everytime it is translated. Go for the gold standard, the OT.

Mainstream christianity includes the 'torah' in its holy books. It is a fine day in hell when even this simple fact is unknown to our local neo-saved.

More important to know Jesus is coming again then when he is coming. He will come as a thief in the night... For believers, this is outlined in 1 Thessalonians 5...

This man that is predicting the rapture has already predicted a previous "event" back a few years back ... I believe he truly believes this will occur...

    ^^ I am wondering ..
When a prophetic date of destruction passes, do the true believers wise up, or do they just migrate to a new date ?

Are the denialists of ozone destruction and tobacco dangers the climate change denialists of today ? Or does each generation birth a cohort destined for abject stupidity and ignorance ?
