If you don't like tirerack, then go directly to the rim manufacturer's websites. But what you don't find on tirerack will be very expensive.

Prior to fuel prices, Americans look at hybrids like they do diesels...not needed technology. With fuel prices going up, you can already see how this has impacted Prius sales. So, give it another year or so with gas prices above $4 and the Prius will climb higher on your list. Even though the prius is a fine car, it is still not viewed on the same level as a Camry or Accord. It has nothing to do with the rims nor the hard plastic, it has everything to do with misunderstandings (hybrid battery $10,000 to replace every 100k miles) and the previous weird unique shape...this has put the Prius in a unique category for better or worst.

Yeah, it is really common to hear someone say 'I don't like how the Prius looks'. Just heard that from a saleman last week.

Sometimes I tell people 'I've driven Prius and got over 55 MPG with it'.

I don't think most people comprehend what it's like to gas up and only pump in 8 gallons or less after 400 miles.

I knew in 2008 after years of riding sportbikes that got from 50 down to 40 MPGs. My FZ1 could not top 45 MPGs and it weighed 500 lbs with gas 1/6th the weight of Prius.

Considering OEM alloys are often $200 each and your V rims are over $300, how much should one plan to spend for a good quality 16 or 17" ?

Tirerack has 121 choices!! I would think that there is at least one style that someone may like....

tirerack has 63 wheels for Prius in 16" priced from about $90 to about $200. Hmmm, would a $150 wheel be near OEM quality? Geez, I've seen Honda charge over $2k for 17's with tires.

The wheels that I want are $500+ each with out tires. Don't think I will be getting them any time soon.

I hope there are no hard feelings about me grabbing your unmodified OP and putting it up, but I was pissed. You struck a nerve.... I try to use preview post when I post from my computer.

I do like those. All the low riding body bits would be smashed to pieces around here though. No drop for me.

I saw this car last weekend and I thought it looked really sharp. Pics taken with disposable camera which is lousy quality. Also, the tires weren't dressed on car so they look just ok.

I was trying to say this is not about rallying to take away your guy's V package.

You have a choice. Buy the V or buy aftermarket. The wheels may be nicer on the Honda but the overall system is worse. So look bling or be bling... The Honda wheels for the CRZ and InsightII are nice. Maybe popout the Honda center cap and put them on :)

A cheap aftermarket wheel is sub $200. A good aftermarket wheel is usually $400 to $600 a piece. Of course if you are ridiculously crazy, you could spend more than the car is worth on a wheel.

I would probably do something like this on a Prius III

    MOTEGI RACING MR121 Matte Grey

$600 for 4 + $300 for TPMS kit + cost of tires ~ $1800 is plenty outa pocket.

$400+ each for wheels isn't something I would remotely consider.

But, then, if Toyota gave IV some special alloy rims, then i wonder what the cost would be?

How much are those accessory rims/tires on the Corolla or other cars?

For me, i kinda like the multi-spoke ones:

Yeah those are fine. I guess Toyota was gunning for 50mpg and 15" alloys was one way to do it. I would prefer 16s as standard.
