I was thinking about getting a shark fin antenna for my prius, but I'm worried that I will lose radio reception. I've seen two different brands, Beat Sonic and VG Garage, and from what I've seen the VG garage one has a lot of people complaining about large reception loses. Although I've heard only pretty good things about the Beat Sonic one. I know they both use different kinds of antennas. The VG garage one uses a straight up fractal antenna, while the beat sonic antenna is a helical coil. i was wondering if anyone had a beat sonic shark fin and what is their opinion on it.

Also I was looking at Elbrus 15" wheels on tire rack that weight about 17.2 lbs. which is not too bad. The only thing that I was concerned with was the tire pressure monitor sensors. So I was just wondering what people do when they buy they wheel from tire rack.

I went with the VG antenna, as most people do. Aesthetically, the VG antenna is a little smaller and lower profile than the Beat Sonic.

Reception will depend on your location. If you live on the outskirts you might develop more static. I live in a medium-sized city and reception went down a little. It was very noticeable at first, but its hardly noticeable anymore and certainly nothing that discourages me from using the radio.

kp3649, I am using Beat Sonic Shark Fin Antenna. :)

I have just changed it since last week. I worried about the reception before changing it as well. However, I found that the reception is better than I expected and even better than the original one! I could receive FM signal in some car park basements where I could not before! (although the signal was weak)

So, no worry! Go ahead!

When my Beat Sonic shark fin antenna comes in I will let you know how it is. A little off topic here, but where did you get the chrome door trim and how much were they?

So I installed the Beat Sonic shark fin...looks great and the reception isn't too bad either. Overall I am pretty impressed with it. Now I'm just waiting to get my windows tinted...
