Quote from a football forum on the rapture...

"Yes, as foretold in Prophecy. First, the pure of spirit will be Raptured up. (Anybody seen Peyton Manning or Tim Tebow since Saturday? Huh? What'd I tell ya?) Then there will be a period of great chaos, with NFL players rampaging through the streets and calling in to talk shows. Finally, the rest of us will starve as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Andy Reid, Rex Ryan, Mike Holmgren and Albert Haynesworth) consume the entire world's supply of food in one godawful banquet."

Revised: OCTOBER 21, 2011. The date of the Rapture.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again:

Radio host says Rapture actually coming in October

Earlier I wondered whether Mr. Camping might vanish over the weekend even if no Rapture occurred. Well, he has reappeared. Now I wonder how much of Family Radio's $100+M stash was left unspent during the recent advertising blitz, waiting to keep him comfortable for years to come.

This article from Slate reviews the aftermath of failed prophesies on the believers. Take your best guess before you read the answer.

Anyone who buys this should just commit suicide and have their organs harvested cause that's all they'd be worth.

One of the truly pathetic aspects of this christian nonsense is that eventual environmental catastrophe due to ignoring climate change will be heralded by evangelicals etc as proof of god, punishment for sin, blah blah blah.

In a way they will be right, but they will not realize the 'sin' is their own stupidity in living a life of scientific denialism.

And there in lies your hatred towards Christians... and as usual a broad-stroke is used. God instructs to be be good stewards of all He has created. If some choose not to heed the command, that is their choice but do go painting all Christians with that fat brush. Grow up!

Face it spidey, the overwhelming majority of evangelicals are woefully ignorant of, and happily ignore science, rape and destroy the earth, and kill without a second thought -- all based on "god's word." In their spare moments they spread hate. I paint with a very accurate brush.

You can worship Jesus, Allah, The Flying Spaghetti Monster, or nothing at all, I don't care. Just leave me out of it. When it comes to religion, I'm a huge fan of "Don't ask/don't tell".

I agree. But there is a problem with that when worshipers are in a position of legal power over everyone and base laws because of that.

There's also a problem when separation of church and state is seen as an "attack on religion."

Just imagine if christians were subjected to even 1% of the misery they have dished out over the millennia. It would not be kind, but it sure would be just.

Ummmm... Bra... depending on when and where you look... you WILL find christians being dished out real misery, and it hasn't stopped today... it's just the location needs to be defined for you to observe it.

I have been in other nations across the globe... religious intolerance is the primary hatemonger to this very day.

Humans have spiritual needs. Organized religions help satisfy those needs, for a fee. It's simple economics, really.

    Take it off their tab.

Unless of course it is one religion murdering another. That, as we say, is karma.

Only if you look at it from an aggregate point of view. Individuals may need to be dissuaded from atrocious acts (sometimes this requires violence). But no one needs to suffer for things other people have done, over which they had no control.

True enough. This is one of the great things about at atheists. Few people feel the need to kill in the name of a non-existent god.

It mentions religious people killed for their beliefs in the Soviet Union, North Korea, the PRC, Pol Pot's Cambodia, and esp. Albania. Not a trivial amount either.
