I see that nobody has a Coastal Unit. I wonder if its because if the customer service issue, or something else.

I am getting ready to get a Ultimate Lockpick 1 for my 05. I emailed them last week late one night, and had a reply early the next morning. I like the lockpick because it supports video as well as audio. I like the idea of being able to put something on for my kids to watch on lone drives.

I installed a DICE Silverline Duo this weekend. I purchased it off Amazon (from audioonline) for $110, including shipping.

Installation was easy, and took less than 15 minutes. After reading through various instructions on this forum, I removed the lower glove box and pried off the vent housing with my hands (I found it easier to remove from the bottom). For whatever reason, I couldn't loosen the screw holding the white wiring box, so I popped the bottom off its clip, moved it an inch or so to the right, and was able to reach behind and place the wiring harness clip into the back of the radio. Currently my ipod (4gb Nano) and the DICE box are in the lower glove box. Once I am fully convinced it will work I will drill a hole in the slot below the radio and keep the ipod there.

It sounds great, however I have to control selection through the ipod. Controls on the steering wheel work well: On the I can adjust the volume, skip ahead or behind tracks, and switch between CD, ipod, or radio. Controls on the panel do not work. On the panel I can see the names of the album and track names, but none of the controls on the panel work properly. In fact changing them often freeze up the ipod. I have tried various settings on the box's dip switches and settled for the one which shows the most information (Multiple CD player)

Overall, it works as well as I needed it to, which is to say it charges the ipod, plays music, and stops when turn the car or radio off. I do notice that there is a red LED on the inside of the box which glows for a few minutes after the car is turned off.

For what it is worth, I have a (single) CD radio with no navigation, no satellite and no tape.

Also, the unit I purchased was different from the images I have seen online. Other images (older units?) seem to have two input jacks--one on front for iPod and one on rear for AUX--mine has only one input. To change from iPod to AUX you have to swap the cable. This is fine with me, but can see how this might be annoying if, for example, I wanted to play using the AUX input from my phone, which is not Apple.

    Hi Brian, welcome.

I'm running an ML+ in a 2008, which I think is the same nav generation(?). A phone call with Vaistech will sort it out, they are very helpful.

    Thanks Jon,
I ended up with a 2006, so I'll be okay for sure. Now I just have to reconcile $500. Eesh.

The product never worked right. My nano second gen would work using the ipod itself but never displayed correct song data. my iphone and ipod classic never worked with it. Customer support says check my settings. checked and they were set correctly. I will not be replacing it with a DICE unit. Really upset with them selling me a $130 product that never worked. My nano finally died so I will be trying the customer support one more time then I will be reporting them to the better business bureau. the trade in the offered a couple years back expired before I returned from my deployment oversees so i lost out on probably my only chance of getting any kind of working product for my money.
