If I'm not mistaken, all three interior colors in IV and V trims use the same grey leather steering wheel.

Your new wheel looks awesome! I wish there was an easier way to buy one. We need a group-buy on these babies!

I found a seller on Ebay (in the USA) who will make steering wheels to spec. You tell him desired materials and colors. You must overpay him $85 and then he refunds it when to send him your old steering wheel. Prices seem reasonable. RACE Enterprise items - Get great deals on Wood Leather Steering Wheel, Ford Steering Wheels items on eBay Stores!

I'd love to try this, except that I have nightmares about driving down the road and having the steering wheel come off in my hands due to my own technical ineptitude!

The stock steering wheel has been taken already :) wstevensiv you will get the stock leather steering wheel by Friday of next week!

Unfortunately no one is to post any commercial group buys on the forums other than Prius Shop so if you guys are interested you guys should contact TWP to see if they have any contacts in Japan that can get these wheels in along with the JDM LED tailight group buy that is happening right now.

For anyone interested, there is also a "normal" version of this wheel being sold by amazon.co.jp for around $200, delivered to a Japanese address (I didn't check U.S. delivery).

Amazon Japan is selling the "sports" version, as installed by w202mae for $246. The difference seems to be that the normal version does not have the enlarged "thumb rests" at 9:00 o'clock and 3:00 o'clock.

As w202mae did, I'm sure they can both be purchased for less from the auction sites... but as dear wife frequently buys from amazon.co.jp, there's also the convenience and confidence factors to consider. :)

Hey, just wanted to say that your pictures of the install were very helpful. Especially the reminder to disconnect the battery...

the wheel looks and feels great!

Looks really good. I love the piano black look, but if it's anything like my BMW with piano black trim, then it's going to be a dust and fingerprint magnet. Then after awhile when you keep wiping it down, you start to see very fine scratch marks in it. But maybe the this steering wheel is using a better material that won't show as much (like on a Range Rover).

W202, thanks for this great post! I'm looking at the steering wheel puller at AutoZone. It says it comes with 5/16 and 3/8 pulling screws. Will that work for the Prius?

    What you said... great post

However, as I understand it, a few good hefty tugs and bumps will pull it off. No special pullers, etc. needed.

P.S. Theory has it that dear wife will deliver my wheel upon her return in mid-June... same wheel as OP installed, sans the "thumb rests."

WSTEVENSIV : Glad you installed the steering wheel ok!

No need for power steering puller, just put both of your hand on left and right hand on the wheel, wiggle and pull will come right off!

hmm, Rakuten appears to be the only solution at this point unless you have an actual address in Japan :(

I ordered mine today from Rakuten - local merchant shopping mall type web-site.

    http://en.item.rakuten.com/samuraiproduce/prius_steering_126/

Before that, I registered with tenso.com/en/(forwarding shipping company). Upon registration with tenso you are provided with a local address, which you specify as the shipping address. while entering shipping address at Rakuten, I had to use google translation a couple of time to figure out what info goes into what text fields. Tenso charges...ee...$17? (if i got conversion rate correctly) though I'm not sure about actual shipping cost to the US...50$? 60$?

I will post more when Tenso e-mails me that they have received my order.
