I was on CNN's site and saw a video about something called the liberator fuel saver. It sounded authentic, however my gut regards any 3rd party fuel saving device as a scam or fraud.
What are your experiences? Anyone tried anything and gotten a result besides a lighter wallet?

As others will probably chime in as well with: If it was that simple, and it worked that well, the auto makers would have implemented them by now. Don't you think Toyota would love to say "75 mpg" vs "50 mpg" in the Prius? With the focus on efficiency, they would jump on that simple and quick of an improvement in a heartbeat, esp if it didn't cause any other harm to the other systems of the car.

If you ask me, that alone tells me it's pure junk and a lighter wallet is all that it's doing.

Some say that auto manufacturers are in bed with the oil companies on this. Toyota wants to use the MPG and the new MPGe as a selling point, however when I was over at my Toyota dealership yesterday, I saw cars selling with big stickers that say "Up to 35 MPG" and one actually said "Up to 27 MPG". Not sure what to make of that.
The last time I saw a flood of fuel savers hit the market was in 2005 when gas prices started to go way up.
Now, it seems that gas prices follow political pressure. Higher than $3.75 in most parts of the country and the political hot-button is hit, and that's all they talk about is investigating the prices of gas. It is a nice distraction from what we hired these jokers for. Remember the political platform all of them ran on was "jobs, jobs, jobs". Nothing done on that yet.. still..
Sorry to rant on. We all want better MPG, just how to get it is the real question.

I actually went to their site.....it's a scam!
It's not even an original scam!!! (remember the "Tornado?")

Toyota has the ability to build these little metal inserts (or buy them) much more cheaply than 40 bucks!! If they amped up the fuel economy for Priuses (or any other car for that matter) by as much as a one mile per gallon, don't you think that they'd be putting them in their cars?

I do like that they anodized it with a pretty gold finish!!! That ought to be worth something for fuel savings---right?

    Gimme a break!!
I didn’t see the CNN video…so I’ll not opine on their editorial (or economic) twist on this....er....“technology”…:p

Over the years, I've seen many "miracle" gas saving products -- None of them work.

I've often heard that auto manufacturers are in bed with the oil refining companies. Well at this point, I don't believe that either. In this dog-eat-dog world, it is every man (or company) for themselves. There is no financial advantage for auto makers to produce gas hogs so that the oil companies can sell more fuel. In fact, with the high cost of fuel and buyer's sensitivity to fuel consumption, there is an obvious advantage to produce automobiles that are fuel efficient.

Radial tires REALLY worked for safety and mileage, now all cars have radials, electronic ignition REALLY worked for mileage and pollution, now all cars have electronic ignition.

Today we see Traction Control on more and more cars, it works for safety. More and more cars are becoming Hybrids, it works for Mileage.

If really pricy luxury cars have a feature your econobox lacks, it is coming down the road. If no vendor makes it stock, either it ruins economy, ruins pollution, ruins reliability, or just doesn't work.

I hear that old Mercedes diesels will run on snake oil if you can get enough of it.

I heard you need high octane snake oil for the best fuel efficiency.

Our boat diesel would run on snake oil. It will run on almost anything flammable that can be pumped through an injector.
