With the huge windshield and the black dash, it sure gets hot in a hurry. Anyone ever heard of changing/dyeing to a lighter color? I wonder what options are available to us? (Other than using a sun shade. Sometimes I'm in and out of my car 10 time a day)

One trouble with anything but a black dash is that you get reflections on the windshield, which make it hard to see out. Another trouble is that a light colored dash will bounce the energy to other parts of the car (heating that), only a small part will exit back out the windshield. I would advise testing before you spend money on it.

A lighter color would reflect badly on the windshield during the daylight hours. Just throw a light towel over the dash when you leave the car and remove it before you drive away.

I installed a medium-gray dash mat. No problem with heat on the dash, but it does cause reflections, which can be annoying.
I think I am going to go back to black.
    I already use a heat-shield when parked.

Aaahhh...remember the day when you could choose interior dash, seats, tops, body color, even some wheel colors. In the late 70s, I remember a (fleet car) Pontiac fubar of blue exterior, green seats and red dash. Someone, please, tell me how that got out of final inspection!

The dashboard gets hot, but does it really matter? You don't touch the dashboard when you drive, do you?

I think the thought is that the black dashboard will heat up, then radiate heat into the rest of the car heating it up faster. I'm not sure changing the color of the dash will really make much of a difference though.
