Honda Civic CNG in the wild

    Saw a Civic Natural Gas Vehicle on the highway today, driven by a middle-aged woman going slow in the fast lane holding up traffic.

    It has a CNG logo in the rear, and a small NGV logo on the side. Other than that there's nothing unusual about its appearance. Does anybody know what kind of energy efficiency these things get, and how the CNG is replenished?

    Some large centers have some fill pumps at regular gas stations. The tanks in these cars is very small as they weight allot. Your range is not the greatest, but it is probably the cheapest car to run and very clean! Hal

    They are supposed to have a tank range of about 300 miles, are 5K + more expensive than a regular Civic, and they give you a book that lists places to fill them or you can buy a device for about 2K that allows you to fill them at home.:rolleyes:

    I see them relatively often here in Sacramento - just saw one on Thursday at work - the PG&E meter reader was driving one. I see more Civic Hybrids than Civic GX (CNG) though. The GX is still eligible for the HOV sticker, but the Prius and Civic Hybrid stickers will expire on July 1 this year.

    I'd seen a few out in the wild when I lived in CA. When I got off an airport shuttle to a long term parking lot, a woman went to her car (parked near mine). It turned out to be a Civic GX, to which I made a remark about it being a pretty rare car.

    I think I've seen only 1 up here in WA.

    I dont want to look like a BOT, but I did find a website with really good facts about CNG car conversion. They have a complete database that is actually full of CURRENT information about State and Federal incentives/rebates, etc. SkyCNG is the name of it. I have another vehicle I was wondering if/could/should I convert to CNG. SkyCNG answered my questions without trying to sell me anything. Check it out. They dont seem to be part of a political group or PAC.

    Honda will not give that much pick up at cng gas as petrol or diesel
