Pairing bluetooth with more than one Toyota

    I have a 2010 Prius with navigation as well as a 2011 Highlander, also with navigation.

    I can easily pair my iphone via bluetooth with my Prius, but if I then pair the same phone with the Highlander, the next time I get in the Prius the system doesn't recognize the phone anymore. I can get around this by "deleting" my phone on the Prius and then reinstalling it, but if I do this, the next time I get in the Highlander, the phone won't work in that car either!

    It is rather time consuming and cumbersome to have to delete the phone and reboot the bluetooth every time I switch cars. Does anyone have a solution to this?

    The problem is with the phone. Each car is oblivious to the other, so only the phone knows about both cars. Something in the Bluetooth settings of the phone is causing it to latch onto one car. Normally you generate two entries on the phone, and it uses the appropriate one. I don't know enough about the iPhone to give specifics.

    The Bluetooth on each Toyota is called "handsfree" or "car multimedia" yet each car has a separate Bluetooth "address." I think that somehow the iphone confounds the different cars because the way it pairs up with the car it expects each car with the name "handsfree" to have the same address but of course they don't. I'm just trying to figure out a way to solve it!

    What is the limit as to number of devices your phone can be paired with? And do you have it set to auto find?

    I have mine and my wife's phones both synched to both cars, furhter I have my phone synched with printer, motorcycle sound system, my home phone system and a Bt headset. It is still recognized when I go out in the Prius.

    You can change the vehicle's Bluetooth name at least on some cars, for instance, my wife's 2006 Sienna I changed to say "2006 Sienna" instead of the stock "handsfree device" that just wasn't descriptive enough for me, since I am syched to multiple devices.
