I am going to install the 4 Rosen backup sensors in my rear bumper.

I have seen a set of instructions from Toyota mentioned but can't find them. If anyone has a link to the Toyota instructions or pictures and instructions from any other sources please post them or a link here.

Thanks, it's like you read my mind. I was wondering what good they are beyond the novelty level if you have a backup camera and don't have automatic parking. They look like they are primarily an effective way to run up repair costs on a 1 mph bumper nudge.:D. I'm seriously considering not installing mine.

But they look kinda cool  The silver matched my paint perfectly... It's also a fun adventure to pull off the rear fascia - and drill big holes in it ;)

It's a toss up, I won't know what I'm going to do until I do it.

My car is silver too. and I like drilling big holes in things. The stepped bit from Rosen is a nice little tool.

There would also be the fun of showing the distance reading to passengers....most won't realize that it's largely useless:D

the friend of mine backed up into concrete garbage bin protector, cost him a new bumper. His Infinity had backup camera but no proximity sensors.

Was it out of the camera's field of view or was he not paying attention?

It was out of the view (below bumper line) but it was in the morning in poor light conditions. And he obviously wasn't paying much attention I usually make a mental note of things around before I get in car.

That's a good reason to add them... I know I backed my car out of the garage at night - hit a BMW that a friend had parked in our driveway (not paying attention) - thankfully, the 2" hitch protected my bumper, and there was no damage on the 750.... Wish someone made a sensor that plugged into the receiver hitch (2")...

I'm buying one with front and rear sensors installed. I reckon they are useful as you're not always looking at the camera all the time. I use my mirrors too and in that time you are looking at them might be the time a kid runs behind the car given its so quiet

    Now that you mention it:D

I backed my 96 Corvette into a 16 inch high steel post in a dark parking lot and split the bumper.
