Performance of 3rd generation vs. 2nd generation, which one is really faster?

well then, I finally had the chance to measure both cars on a 0-100 km/h run (0-62 mph):

2005 Prius: 0-100 km/h in 9.8 seconds
2010 Prius: 0-100 km/h in 9.4 seconds (I think the man in the BMW next to me at the traffic light didn't expect that haha)


First I shall say, these times are both about a second less than toyota says but that will probably because my times are from 0 to 100 on the display, in reality this is not really 100km/h but in this case it doesn't matter because its just for the comparison.

I did both tests on the same flat road, with airco and such off, and the 2010 in pwr mode. Both cars had about two thirds of the battery charge. I measured from the moment my foot steps on the throttle untill I see 100 on the display.

I still think the 2005 gives a bigger boost but I did notice when I was timing that the 2005 needs a little time after giving full throttle and actually start moving. As if all the systems need a moment to think about what I want to do. The 2010 doesn't do this so much.

So I will conclude to say that feeling is a little deceiving, both cars are quick off the line The 2010 accelerates more lineair, directly from the moment you press the throttle, the 2005 first stands still for a moment and then gives a boost in acceleration.
