Well my friends have called me crazy but I have just traded my Jaguar XF for a new Prius 10 (Gen X). Got a crazy deal and it will arrive next week.

Pearl White with Black Wheels :D

Any other Prius 10 owners on the forum?

    Regards,

    David.

Well... the car was meant to be here today but it has been delayed a week :(
I am actually quite exited about getting this car which is weird because my last five new cars have been:

    Jaguar XFR
    BMW 760i
    VW Touareg V10
    Mercedes E55 AMG
    Jaguar XKR

and I don't remember being quite as exited with those. I originally went to try and buy a CT200h but it was too small in both the rear seats and boot (trunk). I then tested a T Spirit (top uk model) but never liked the leather interior... looked cheap. However the Limited edition 10 model had much better leather (very similar to the Lexus) and looked good with the black alloys from the outside.

Would have liked heated memory seats like the top of the range Lexus had however I got such a good deal on my brand new 10 that the Lexus worked out £8K more and nice as it is, it is not £8K more of a car (whist also being too small).

    Back to waiting... :bored:

With the UK t-spirit, there are two types of leather seat. There is dockside fit (the normal option) or there is factory fit which you only get with the safety pack. According to the guys on the UK toyota forum, the factory fit is much better and you get heated seats.

Well i hope you're pleased once it arrives! It's certainly going to be different to the jag and the beemer.

I had a peek inside a 10 and the stitching on the leather did look nice.

    Welcome to the club :welcome:

There are quite a few Brits on the forum and the US and UK models aren't that different (other than interior specs) so most of the advice offered on here will be fine.

Bit of a change going from the Jag to a Prius, even though the Prius 10 is quite a sporty looking number. What made you take the leap? Free admission to the London congestion zone? Or did you just fancy something a little different?

The Prius is OK performance wise (0-60 in about 10) but nowhere near the Jags. If you take it steady you should end up with some fantastic mpg's. Just make sure the tyre pressures are correct (even 1 or 2 psi too low makes a difference to mpg's) and also ensure the dealers use 0w20 oil at oil change time!

Oh one last thing - our American friends have smaller gallons to us (3.7 litres compared to 4.5) so don't be alarmed if they sound chuffed to be getting 40 mpg as that's about 50 UK mpg.

Enjoy your new ride, keep us updated to how you find it and post some pics when you can. :thumb:

So you do have the special edition with black leather instead of dark grey!

    Congrat!

Thanks for all the replies... The dealer now says I can have it on Tuesday so I will hopefully post some pics next week. :)

Johalareewi - I don't think even the factory fit leather comes with heated seats in the UK (would like to be wrong)... In fact I don't think heated seats are even an option in the UK at all.

Grumpy - The Prius will certainly not be as quick as the Jag in fact I think is exactly half as fast as the Jag does 0-60 in 5s.:D However my motoring has changed over the last couple of years and the Jags computer is showing an average speed for the last 9000 miles of 24 mph at a fantastic 21mpg. As long as it will haul my Mountain Bike to Wales, North Yorkshire or Scotland then I will get the speed rush else where.

After experiencing the mpg of the Jag, you will end up quite giddy the first few times you fill up the prius.

    WelcomeTo the forum. : )

Trentham, Staffordshire. In fact the Dealer has only sold 2 of the Prius 10 models. First was a black one was to Phil Taylor (World Darts Champion who swapped a Bentley for it) and the 2nd to me (who swapped a Jag).

Must be something in the Midlands water! :D

Well I finally got round to picking it up... I am happy it drives better than I remember the test drive and it is a lot faster than I remember :mod:

Will try and take some pictures this weekend if the weather improves!

It's fairly responsive in power mode, and yes it will do 116mph indicated on the speedo!
