2012 Prius III. What is best way to minimize sunlight from washing out the readibility of the Main Instrument cluster? I have Thick glasses and sometimes cannot even read the MPH indications.

    Hi Ed,
Welcome aboard. Don't have to worry about the sun too much up here. Perhaps you might consider tinting the windows?

Tinting the windows is a great upgrade, i love it, but it has the effect of making the radio/climate control LCD's almost unreadable in the daytime.

I don't understand what you're saying - the tint makes the displays harder to read in the daytime? I don't experience this. Could you elaborate?

Make sure the dimmer control is all the way to the top. There's a detent at the top that some people don't even know is there since it requires a bit of force.

Thanks for all the replys. I intend to tint at about 35%. Still have to work out all the details.

We have a Prius 2. Bright sun coming in the side windows washes out the instrument cluster. Bright sun coming in the front windshield reflects off the dash (even though it is a matte finish) and causes my eye iris to close down and then I cant read the instrument cluster. :(

Thanks. It is at max. In fact in bright sun the dimmer is disabled and does not dim the cluster at all. At dusk or nighttime it works fine. :(

The only things I can recommend to you is to tint the windows in the car (all of them). Not the windshield though. That should cut off all the sun coming from the sides of the car. Now, for the dash reflection problem I suggest you buy a "Dash Mat". Take a further look HERE. Maybe buy that first instead of tinting the windows and see how it helps? I think this could possibly be your solution along with tint.

Neat site "AutoAnything". They seem to have everything. I was amazed at the list of colors that the dashboard cover comes in. At $35/pop I think I will try the tint first as I also want to block some of the MD sun. Thanks again.
