Chevrolet UK have released the official pricing for the UK RHD Volt at £28,545 inc tax and after deduction of the £5,000 EV grant!

The Charging Point » Chevrolet announces UK price for Volt

That comes out at $45,800 after deduction of $8,000 grant.

Now cars are more expensive in the UK for a number of reasons, the main one being a 20% sales tax, but £28,545!!! That's high. The UK Leaf is only £2,000 less but £28k buys you a new Mecedes E class!

    But time will tell.

How is the price compare to Prius or Auris HSD?

GC, when you say the LEAF is only 2000 UK less, have you included the incentive ?

LEAF OTR price is #25.9k after the #5k deduction. It's also much better for passengers, although not great, apparently, with the high rear floor.

Auris hsd £20k, Prius £21k - £24k, Leaf £26k (after grant) and Volt £28.5k (after grant), Mercedes E class base model £28.8k.

To give an idea of other cars a base Auris is £13k and a base Ford Focus is £16k.

Well they had to add the cost of making it drive on the wrong side of the road somewhere! :p

Wow. It's a little cheaper here.

It's Cdn$41k for the Volt before incentives and options (e.g. leather) and that gets you an IS250 RWD 6MM with leather/moonroof OR a base IS250 AWD 6MM or a loaded B200 Turbo w/ CVT, a base C250 RWD 6M & solid colour, a 128i coupe 6MM w/ metallic paint or a loaded CT200h w/ Tech Pack ($39k). A 2.0 litre Focus costs $15-$24k here. The Leaf is $35k and a Matrix (similar in size to the Auris) is $16-$27k (All but the base model have a 2.4 litre engine. AWD is available. The base model gets a 1.8 litre engine)

Only a few provinces offer incentives ($7-8k). No federal incentives available.

Pricey but gas is so much worse in the UK that I bet the Leaf and Volt are far more attractive than they would be in the US. Still overpriced, though, for what they are.

Premium unleaded (95 RON) costs £1.34/$2.15 a litre or £4.96/$7.97 a US gallon.

Super unleaded (98 RON) costs £1.40/$2.25 a litre or £5.18/$8.32 a US gallon.

We do not have regular unleaded (91 RON) in the UK or most of Europe.

UK is civil and classey. No controversial subsidies there....only grants. Who could possibly criticize a well-earned grant. BTW, GC, my local Yellow Cab company seems to have lots of yellow Prii and they have yellow Ford Escape Hybrids too.
