    Sounds good actually damn good. I think in the wake of everything that has happened to japan and toyota in the last couple years, they are ready to show the world what they are made of. They were humbled in many ways. We all win with better products, innovations,technology and choices.

    Can't wait to see what the New Camry will be!

    Edited: Happen to stumble across some pics doing a google search that look like it *could* be the next gen comparing the headlight to the body: It has a bit of a Lexus touch:

    "for years, the only competition for the camry was the civic". huh? we can't wait for the new hycam, time to trade the 08. it will be interesting to test drive it along with the hybrid fusion.

    I can attest that the XLE could have a leather-trimmed dashboard. A fellow over at ToyotaNation mentioned it as a possibility. The SE could also sport paddle shifters on automatic models. The reclining rear seat on the XLE is also gone (a pity. I liked that feature).

    For something like the Camry, I think the interior is worth more the attention of the designers and engineers than the exterior. The Camry will never be exciting to look at but the interior can impress (Gen 3 and Gen 5 Camry is what I have in mind). Most buyers will care about the interior and hopefully Toyota can impress us on that front.

    Also, tighter bodypanels than the any Lexus (i.e. tighter than the LS)?? that's a bold claim.

    Dose anybody know whether an AWD trim will be available, just like in the Venza.

    *Yawn* Profile looks exactly like the current Camry, with revised front and rear fascias. From what I know about the auto industry, all the hardware and chassis development for this next gen Camry would have started quite a while back, before the whole Toyota backlash and earthquake happened; meaning that the development for this new Camry was started when Toyota was at the top of the game. Being that Toyota is very conservative, they wouldn't have strayed too far off the path/plan that have worked for them so successfully.
    So yes, Toyota may have engineered some driving dynamics into this new Camry, much like how they improved the driving dynamics of the Gen III Prius over the Gen II. However, I highly doubt it that it's going to challenge the driving dynamics of an Accord, Mazda 6, or even the new Sonata. As someone else stated, Toyota will concentrate their efforts on improving interior quality, build quality, and comfort. That's their strongpoint anyways.

    33 City / 34 Highway MPG is not too impressive but the base Camry hybrid starts at $20k? Must be a mistake.

    These wheels are sick! I like it.

    That's just the CNG hybrid concept car.

    That's the current 2010 and 2011 Camry Hybrid with the updated front and rear bumpers, taillights and grille.

    nice stills! Hmm... not particularly exciting (then again, it's a Camry) but I am definitely excited to see what they have done for the interior. I felt that they cut some corners in the current Gen 6 so it better be improved for this new generations.

    The pic's look accurate but I don't think that the writer's description of the specs nor his estimate of the FE numbers are accurate; e.g. VSC/TRAC are not optional, haven't been for years.

    This Gen 7 I think is going to be all about the interiors.
    • they can't make it bigger ( see current Accord );
    • they won't make it smaller;
    • there is only so much that can be done with the profile and the sheetmetal;
    • the ICE's are currently state-of-the-industry;
    • with SmartStop all the current safety features for a mass-market auto are included in the 2011's;
    However, as compared to the Gen 6's...
    • handling can be improved
    • FE can be improved
    • the quality of the interiors can be improved
    • the TCH needs to jump over the FFH in order to reclaim the No 1 position.

    i'll be shocked if toy doesn't reengineer the hybrid system to show better mpg's on the new epa test. i'm expecting a larger trunk, a few mpg's improvement and much better mpg's on the sticker. and maybe a price reduction.
