So I was driving my wife's 2011 Prius to work today and ran over a truck's disk brake that was laying in the road at nearly 70 mph. My front passenger side tire ran over it and then it proceeded to rip both the front right and rear right side underbody plastics loose so that I had to pull over and remove the remains from under the car.

I called my Toyota dealership an hour ago and they told me one piece would be ~$100 and the other ~$80 and that doesn't include whatever labor ~$80(?) they charge. I couldn't believe how ridiculous these prices sounded for such small pieces of plastic. The man who quoted me said they were so expensive because of 'the way that they are molded'.

My question is this: Does anyone know of a cheaper source to purchase these pieces? Surely there is a cheaper alternative.

    Thanks in advance.

Get the part numbers and try parts.com online. There are many other parts sites as well.

Toy OEM parts have always been expensive.

    Welcome aboard by the way!

Thats about what the Fiesta SFE panels cost as well so its not too outrageous.

It does suck though, I hope you find a good deal somewhere.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the quick reply. I'm having trouble finding the part number for these panels and actually can't find them in the part catalog either... I will keep searching. Thanks again for the help!

Dealers will normally give you the part numbers if you ask. Parts.com is a great place to get Toyota stuff cheap.
This is another site as well. If I ever had to get parts for my vehicle, I'd get the number from my dealer and order them somewhere else and then bring them back for installation. Just try to relax, you'll get your car back and up to par in no time.

What is the damage to the pieces, can you repair them? They are under the car so they just need to be functional , not car body pretty.
