    Hello everyone,
Just wanted to make a short post to introduce myself. I bought a 2004 Prius (very gently) used in December of 2005 and have been wonderfully happy with it. I'm hoping to trade it in on a plug-in model next year.

Right now I'm driving a new Ford Focus while the Prius is in the shop for some body work. I miss my Silver Beast ... -_-

Welcome to the forum what took you so long? What happened to your Prius that caused it to need a visit to the body shop? I hope the plug-in makes its debut on schedule. If you get one keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about your Prius, even though you are a member of the Silver Squadron.

Any thoughts on your motivation for getting a Prius, and your motivation for the plug in purchase? How many miles and how is it holding up?

Thanks for the welcome! I didn't know this forum existed -- though I probably should have! I found it in the process of getting on the mailing list for notices when the new plug-in model comes out -- I have the good fortune to live in Oregon, one of the first rollout states.

The Silver Beast is in the shop after getting scraped up by our neighbor's Lexus SUV in the parking lot of our apartment complex ... hopefully not too long before we get it back. It's not quite at 70k (I have a really short commute to work) and hasn't needed any work save oil changes and tires replaced.

My husband and I got it because we really liked the idea of having a car that was "green" and fuel-efficient -- just for ourselves, as opposed to showing off to anyone -- and we're kind of tech nerds, both of us. I think the same motivations are in play when it comes to getting the plug-in hybrid. I'd really love to get something like the Tesla Model S, but don't have quite that kind of money.

Living in an apartment isn't the ideal for the plug-in, but my employer has charging stations in the parking lot, so I'll be able to drive to work on the battery, park at the charging station and be ready to go again by lunchtime. I just think that's so cool. :)

:welcome: Welcome to Priuschat! We're glad you found us.
Sorry to hear about the Silver Beast. I can only hope the Lexus felt some pain as well.

I have an '04 and he's still going strong. Like you, I'm hoping to get the PHV when it comes out. Unlike you, I'm in Chicago which is not in a roll-out state. (though I might drive/fly to one)

WELCOME, You seem to have all the same edifying qualities as the rest of us, the only one lacking is DIY, which can be a problem when living in a apartment. BUT, is still good to consider, if only for the benefit of knowing more when talking to a Toyota rep.

Doing a search for "Prius", you'll find other websites returned too. There's one in particular I'm partial to... ;)

Actually, it's a bit of a compliment to Toyota that you didn't know. To purchase a Prius and be a longtime owner without seeking out info online says a lot for how well thought out the design has been.

Statistics of statisfaction are skewed by the likelihood of logging on to complain. Silent happy owners simply don't cause much of a stir.
