Does the car come with TINT from factory?

I just bought my car tonight (I get to pick it up Thursday) and when I was looking at it on the showroom floor it really looked like the windows were tinted ( I didn't ask for tint at all and didn't pay for it either). So does this come automatically now?

I haven't read anything where this is an option either so I am just curious... It would be great if I didn't have to get it tinted later. :)

    Thanks
    Ryan

The "factory tint," which is the UV coating, gives the glass around 70% light transmittal. This is probably why it appears somewhat tinted. The small piece of glass on the rear hatch is tinted to give about 30% light transmittal.

I just had my car tinted today with Hyper Optik Ceramic 50% on the front windows and 30% on the rear windows. The front windows do not look much darker than the factory glass.

It's tinted roughly 75% in the factory glass (no film), but it's still too light to be considered "tinted" for most people.

Good choice of tint level. Cop sees darker rear windows, then sees lighter tinted front windows and they look normal.

I think your windows may have been tinted, I thing it may be common place for cars in your region to have their windows tinted at the port. Did you notice anything on the window sticker? I looked at a couple Prii at two dealers up in Alabama where I am currently visiting and they had tinted windows with etched VIN numbers.

As The Critic mentioned the cars windows to have a slight tint to them along with UV protection from the factory. Someplace here on PC someone posted a chart of the amount of tint and UV protection each window has.

But I think it is a South Eastern Toyota thing that they do at the port in Jacksonville.

Do you think there's enough of a difference between the front and rear, judging from the picture?

The difference wasn't nearly as big as I thought.

I can see a substantial difference in your picture, but the angle of the car and the sun can make it look darker or lighter in person.

Our windows were tinted at the port; we had no choice as we bought from stock. If yours are like mine, there is a non-tinted edge visible when any window is rolled down (opened).

Don't dealers charge for port-installed tints? If so, the OP should be able to find it itemized on the invoice along with price paid if it actually has a film.

Well I KNOW I didn't pay for it, because the car was MSRP on the invoice with no added option except the bumper guard (which I had them deduct from the price since I didn't want it).

Also nothing else was on the invoice at all, just was wondering if this was common or not. I didn't think any of them just came with ANY tint at all. As I never really looked.

Makes sense about the region automatically adding tint though.

I guess I will call them to find out..

    Thanks
    Ryan

It's very possible that it was a dealer-installed option, but given you refused to pay for the bumper guard they likely didn't bother to mention the dealer-installed tint if they didn't think you'd pay for it. However, you should be able to find evidence of film applied to the inside of the windows. No need to call to find out.

If the OP would post a picture of the car, we could probably tell him.

You can resolve if it's had tint film added by just having a close look. Personally, I would not accept a car that had tint film applied without my requesting it.

Why would you not accept it? Just curious...

I mean I am OK with the tint and considering that I would have gotten it tinted anyway, why would I say no to this? Especially for free.

I didn't request window tinting on my Prius IV when I presented my offer. The "best fit" model they found though had it so that's what I got without paying anything above my original offer. Now that I got it, I really like it and would include it in my list of accesories in any future car purchase.

There's nothing wrong with accepting free tint. If it looks good, great. If it turns pink, purple or whatever, you can always have it removed and replaced with higher quality film.
