Hardly any car looks like it's concept.

And the pic in your link is not the c, it's a different Toyota product whose platform the c will be built off of.

Also, having read the article in full now, I think they are wrong in some areas in my opinion. I don't see how it will be similar in dimensions to the prius v. It is intended to be smaller. Next, I think they are way too high on their price simply converting yen to dollars. This car at the price they say it would cost would be damn near the starting price of a prius. Makes no sense. And finally they talk abut it having a lithium ion battery. It may, I don't remember if it was ever set in stone it would, but considering I this this is intended to be a smaller value priced member of the prius family, I think they would want to use the technology they have been using and can produce much cheaper.

Toyota said many new hybrids were on the way.

Why are they assuming this larger new hybrid will take the place of a compact model?

I don't know, guys. I'm thinking that this article is pretty spot-on.
Oh sure, everything Toyota has said pointed to a smaller vehicle rather than larger and yeah the Yen-to-Dollars calculations are way off and yeah he pulled stock imagery of a totally unrelated vehicle. But those things aside, I'm pretty sure he nailed it.

The coming later 2011 part isn't correct. It was to follow PHV all along. Offering both something like a RAV4 and something like a Yaris using HSD makes sense, regardless of timeline. After all, Toyota did say they'd be offering a variety. And following the disasters over in Japan, it's not like they aren't allowing to change schedules anyway.

Highlander Hybrid review from Consumer reports!

This 3-row SUV has better gas mileage than my 4 cylinder '07 Camry
    Highlander Hybrid: city/highway/combined= 28/28/28.
When I see someone driving a 3-row Mercedes GL 450 which gets:13/18, 15 combined, I wonder whether this person is aware of the Highlander Hybrid.

In addition to the Prius c, a smaller hybrid SUV with > 30mpg would be a great idea since the RAV4 has evolved into a 3-row SUV itself.

Why would anybody look to buy a 3-row SUV and want something sporty!

Remember folks, they are citing Motor Trend as a sole source. When was Motor Trend ever right?

Yes, not sure if the Prius C will actually look like that stock imagery, but, if the MT article that blog refers to is in the right direction, it'll look more like, say, a RAV4 than a small Pri like the Toyota Prius Family pic shows. A whole different body shape! ???

They said it will share the Rush platform (which is the rav4ish looking sport-ute in the photo). That is not to say the Prius C body will look like the rav4ish sport-ute Rush shown in the photo.

Although concepts often do not look like the final production vehicle, I doubt they would show what they did in the concept and then drop a rav4 type vehicle on people.

And besides that, it's a member of the Prius family which means great fuel economy. Having a body like the Rush in the photo in the link you provided will not get mileage like the current Prius. Again, I would take that article with a grain of salt as others have said in this threads as well.

Toyota must have an ex-Intel Agent working in their marketing dept. Feed em all kinds of wrong info and they won't know what the truth is. Or as they say in the industry, deception has its own truth.

The 1st 2 sentences of your last paragraph was what I thought. So after I came out of shock... lol, I kinda like the depiction in the MT article. I've never grown to like the nose of the Pri.

You're right about concepts... and it is still stated as a Prius C Concept on the Pri Family pic. Have to wait for an official Toyota announcement.

Go to your (US) Toyota site (toyota.com), and click on upcoming vehicles.

Or go here: Toyota Prius Family

You will see the Prius C official Toyota picture.

That rag is full of LAZY writers who don't care about the truth, just about filling their rag!

+1 . As I was reading this article, I kept looking for sources, but I saw none.
    Bingo.

For starters, over on the Prius c forum, there are photos of a prototype that has a STRONG appearance to be the Prius c, and also if Toyota said this is goin to be the highest mpg Prius, then it will need to be a featherweight AND highly aerodynamic (not exactly an SUV).

Article blatantly contradicts things literally straight from Toyota. I think it's crap and I don't buy it for a minute.
    You = thread winner.

That thing looks nothing like what was in the article and there's no way that article minisuv or whatever the heck it thinks it is will beat current prius for mileage. I put no stock in this article.
