i dont understand why the heck do you have to be fanboy of anything. so far there is nothing better than nimh about lithium hybrids - check Sonata Hybrid - it is not better car than Fusion Hybrid, and has poor trunk as Fusion or Camry. now next gen Camry comes out with 2s better 0-60, better mpg and 50% bigger trunk, is Sonata going to be better because it uses lithium? Why would it be?

looks like our pics from before lets now hope that 200hp+ and 38 MPG are correct as well as big trunk!
I like these numbers. First I was hoping this year for an ES 300h with these numbers, but the ES is one year away. 38mpg would be very good, but 40 is Excellent.
looks more sloped from back to front in the side pic. more aggressive? not a huge redesign like last one. but i'm still more concerned with trunk size and gallons per mile.
I would say this is the most flattering angle. Looks like an Avalon., particularly the rear quarters. I wonder if this is Winter Grey. Anyone noticed the extra badging in the rear above the HSD logo? Pretty sure it doesn't say TOYOTA
so the previous numbers have been confirmed - 440l for Hybrid, and 206hp total output, as well as 15% better mpg than SAI. Looking at engine specs, a lot more torque than before plus 6hp more from battery pack (?), with less weight means it should be quite fast. i predict the sales will double for hybrid, at least... with large trunk, speed and mpg... as long as they dont go crazy with pricing.
Sounds great! More hp than Fusion hybrid and matches Sonata hybrid power. Fuel economy should be around 38 MPG between FFH and HSH. Trunk size and emission should be class leading.
let me note HSH gets only 9.2s 0-60.... TCH should do 7.xs for that. but HSH has had 4 recalls in 3 months on market, i personally would not try my luck with their long term battery reliability... i regulary check their forums as i was interested in optima hybrid, but it is plagued with issues.
Good point. eCVT is more power efficient than any step gear tranny. Given two ICE with the same peak power, eCVT will be faster because it can stay at peak power RPM instead of revving up and down stupidly. Believe it or not some people like that "feature" because they are used to it.
not to mention the smoothness of PSD device compared to traditional AT trying to figure out multiple power sources, also mentioned on Sonata forums (prius transmission being smoother, low speed jerking in HSH).
That would totally ruin the hybrid experience. I wonder if it happens during transition from EV mode to when ICE kicks in.
Some complain of CVT "drone noise". That's the sound of engine at peak power and it ought to stay there. Jet engine sounds the same right way. If you don't like it stick with something that shift it back down to lower power.
40mpg is crap. Lot of non hybrid cars are crossing that number. Hyundai, Ford and Kia already have hybrids that meet that. Civic, Elantra, Cruz and focus all have versions that do better. Yes they are little smaller but they are also considerably cheaper. Lets not forget prius and prius V. Prius V seems to have lot more useable space than camry. In the end camry hybrid will sell just because its a camry not because its a great car. I think camry should split difference between prius v and prius and give about 45mpg combined.
Looks like they're doing the same trick on the TCH as they did on the Prius - get more torque out of the engine so that they can reduce the electric motor size and weight = improved fuel economy and create more space for other parts. Considering that the battery pack and inverter were repackaged in the Prius v to take up less space, perhaps they've found even more ways to make those two items smaller on the TCH??
