One of my classes in undergrad (about 6000 years ago when men were riding dinosaurs) was on writing surveys. That one is NOT UNBiased. The tone of the questions begs the "obvious" answers.
Remember, most of us in this country seldom see the "light of day", and Rasmussen seems to feed on that.
Take from that what you will.

What's your point, that the general populace is stupid? That much me already know.

Asking a large group of people that know nothing about a subject if they think those that do know about a subject are liars or not has no correlation to the accuracy of the subject or the experts' works. It only tells you how people "feel" about a subject.

I am sure 69% would also "feel" that the Prius' battery pack only lasts 100k miles and then you need to pay $6000 to replace it. Does that make it true?

I'm sure more than 69% of people thought the Earth was flat and we were the center of the Solar System.

Far be it from me to suggest that FUD and propaganda are not effective. BTW, the general populace was most "convinced" of AGW when petrol prices were high. That is about as stupid as equating todays weather with climate change.

Consider the OP,, don't feed the TREB! Let him spew forth his drivel in his political forum.

As a side note, I have always thought we should conduct science based on popular polls!

    Icarus

TREB's post just reveals how successful the orchestrated denial campaign has been,,how sad,, and scary!

I do NOT think they are saying GW is not happening, just they think there some hype has been added to spice up the urgency. American public basically needs a hype factor to get their attention. Right? or do I just have a bad attitude.

OMG. Are you that stupid or simply illiterate?

God created the world only slightly more than 5,000 years ago which means that men could NOT have been riding dinosaurs before the Earth was created.

    F'n DUH!

Sorry Tony, but you're wrong. The world was created 4004 BC ([ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Ussher"]xx[/ame]). Add that to 2011 and you get >6000 years. :tsk:

Of course, there are several dozen other purported dates for creation that range all over the place, but what do THEY know?? :fencing:

    Sigh...

Once again, it's all about finding the one mistake or greedy occasion to get into the spotlight. Especially in this day and age when it is becoming vastly more difficult to channel either more fame or better yet money in your direction.

Like I said before, the whole point is whether we are contributing towards global warming. Of course we are, just merely look up what effect carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide has. Not to mention methane. Also check out the ph level of the ocean and what is causing that to occur. Up and above you would need to study just a little bit about the geological history of the earth. Plenty of changes have occurred over the history of the planet, but except for the occasional meteorite and rather big volcanic occurrences, they take quite a bit of time to change things. Things are changing as far as geological time goes at a insanely fast pace. Just ask all the critters who have survived for thousands and even millions of years through change only to go extinct because they could not adapt fast enough.

The whole point is simply this since most people who read this will find a level of stupidity to match their own, or more accurately, the biggest mouth of the day will tend to side with whatever gives them the most comfort for the lifestyle they led.

To make it more simple, would it really hurt that much to change things for what nobody disagrees would be for the better instead of debating who or what is to blame for what is currently going on??

Why 69%? Don't they know that 77% is better (because you get 8 more)?

    Who made up this number?

You know that they only polled 1000 people. Where did they get their phone numbers, from Fox Noise, Michelle Bachmann, or Sarah Palin's districts? Surely, if they got the numbers from any one of these three sources, their numbers could have been higher for the point that they are trying to convey.

When you work for a surveying agency, you are often told to go and get a sample that will tell you what someone wants to "prove" is true. Like the boss says, "Go and get a sample and survey that says that 70% of people don't believe in climate change." The poor schmuck who has to do this, comes up with the best (s)he can, because if not, the poor schmuck gets fired. Plain and simple.

I am a scientist (according to me degree) but I have an open mind that allows me to believe there can be other explanations for things. Sorry your so closed-minded.

OK, regale us with your degree, highest level studies in math, physics and chemistry, and peer reviewed publications.

I'm looking at more tangible issues such as Peak Oil and smog in major urban areas.

Global consumption has outpaced both oil discovery and production for at least the past 40 years. Every time the price of oil has spiked a recession has followed since 1973. If Ozone alert days over the world's largest cities stopped, thousands would not die of respiratory diseases, heart attacks, buildings would not be coated in soot, billions saved. It's pretty hard to deny this.

Address this and most AGW concerns will in the process.
