Nope. Some confusion and possible bait and switch. Found it yesterday on usedcars.com and it had it for 18995. Today, that listing was gone and replaced with another (same car) but no price. So I went directly to the dealer site and they want 21988. Also, it is in a town north of here and we were too tired to go up there. Have the manager looking into the listing that disappeared. But suspect I won't hear anything till Monday if at all.

doesn't the hybrid camry have vdim? (the lexus traction control system)

i've test driven a few in different cities... i love it each time. the only thing better is a bigger more powerful lexus hybrid... they just glide.

another thing i like about the hycam is when you start it cold, whether the engine fires up or not, it's smooth as silk when you shift it into drive. with our regular camry's, the engine revs way up when you start it cold and when you shift into drive there's a big CLUNK.

There are like two others currently. They are certified but at least three grand more.
Hybrids are not all that common up here but becoming more so every day.

Ahh. Well my friend who knows nothing about hybrid driving managed to get in the high 30s. I think it gives you an "Excellent" mark on the MID if you beat 6.7L/100km (35mpg) which isn't hard in the spring/fall.

It has a more advanced setup. VDIM - Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management. The Prius is the only Toyota hybrid that has the TRAC/VSC setup. VDIM integrates traction control, vehicle stability control, ABS (w/ EBD and BA) and the electric power steering and basically anticipates when you'll slide out and correct you immediately. With VSC, you'll slide a little before VSC kicks in. With VDIM, you won't even notice you're on a slick surface (Which can be a good or bad thing...)

Possibly. I haven't driven the TCH in the winter. There's a thread I posted a while ago. It's a video demonstration of various Toyota safety systems and you can see for your eyes the difference between no VSC, VSC and VDIM.

Unfortunately, the link is dead (the website appears to be non-existent). I'll try to find the video. It was very helpful.

Edit: Found it. The poster removed the last part of the video but the important part is there - ABS only, ABS + TRAC/VSC and VDIM. Three vehicles on the same surface. Note how the GS450h with VDIM compared to the Toyota with VSC.

kbb.com puts that car at $20,310 for the area up there. Considering excellent condition. If it is a non-smoking car and basically has zero wear & tear, I'd say yes it is worth the price they are offering it to you. Question though, why doesn't it have Alaska license plates on it? Was it a auction car brought into the state or rental car? The other Camry Hybrid they are selling does have Alaska plates.

Good question. Somewhere along the line I saw the CarFax for it and it was a single private owner in CA. I can't remember that last entries but it might have been an auction. I will see if I can find that again.

    [Edit] Found the CarFax:

I read that after my post about it being a CA car. Might have been someone relocating up there from CA and trading it in when they got there. That alone is why it doesn't have Alaska plates. Other than that, there is nothing on the Carfax that shows any negatives.

That dealer sure has a lot of Prii in stock and some on the way. Sounds like a huge all in one multi manufacturer dealer. I ran across one of those in Champaign Illinois which was a freakin huge multi building mini city. The dealers in Minnesota are small

Don't forget to post us some pics when you get the car home tonight :p

    Funny guy!

Yeah, they are pretty much the state's Toyota dealer. They also do Ford too.

So yeah, if in any other situation the car would have been in our yard already. We just wanted to downsize our van with minimal cash input. This would cost us at least 8 grand. We can drive our van a lot on 8 grand in gas. Hmmm.

I see the CarFax indicated that the car was offered for sale as Toyota Certified on 6/7 but the current listing does not show it as certified. That would be a big deal for me.

Yea wonder whats the deal on that certified before but not now? IDK, if you like, go in there tonight and see what you think. You know what to ask and so forth. Hope it is a nice car and possibly just their advertisement that is wrong and it is really a Toyota Certified used car. Never know. Their option listing on their website doesn't have the options listed for either Camry Hybrid correct. Seems some dealers have meatheads in their Internet departments that can't run a VIN and list exactly the options/features of a specific car for sale. They just throw in some generic data from their online listing program or whatever they are using to enter data into

Otherwise,,,, you could buy another Prii :thumb: Two is better than one :)

Think it's time for some lunch, hearing my tummy speaking feed me :D
