So would I, directly from Toyota, but unfortunately they aren't out yet... But in the latest Car and Driver here's what they have to say:

So if it's true (which IMO makes sense about the head and tail lamps since the Gen II had these changes in its 3rd model year) how different and what changes will be made? And what changes to packages do you think we'll see? Or better yet, what do you hope we'll see?

Sounds like they're talking about the Prius v (wagon) rather than the standard Prius.

It starts with the Prius v and ends with the regular Prius... That's why the article says Prius/Prius v

Yeah, they can't even get the "v" right but it does say "the Prius line," not necessarily the regular Prius.

The 2012 regular Prius should have Entune in order to remain competitive. No question about that. I can believe headlight and taillamp refreshing, but they won't be anything major or like what we really want (red or smoke, all LEDs). If anything, they'll be a lot like the 2012 Prius v.

I read it quickly and thought - oh that's the V. Then reread and thought - oh the first part is the V, 2nd is the "Regular" Prius.

And it continues.... the horrible naming convention for the Prius by Toyota. Why they didn't come up with a unique model name for the V...???
At least call it the Prius wagon or such. So Prii model line will be "The Regular", V, C, etc. Didn't the California US Marketing Dept have input on this?

Oh, for the days of Impala, Galaxie 500, Toronado, Fairlane, Imperial, etc etc. Names - not the cars themselves...

BTW thxs for the C&D article copy...

Yeah, I take the "Prius Line" thing to mean the regular Prius line of the Prius 2 thru 5. The Prius v is new so they wouldn't be talking about new headlights and taillights for it.

I too would like to see something a little different in the design of the head/tail light assemblies, which makes em' pop a bit more than what we have in the 10/11...

Lol, I think many for a while, especially after the Prius v's are out, will wonder what they were thinking coming up with the name.

Your welcome for the pic of the article.

Any word on when the 2012's might be coming out? Thinking of buying 2011 but I'd wait another month or 2 for either discounts or a possible 2012

Nothing official. Usually car companies roll out new model years in September or October but if you want to use the Gen II refreshening (2006) model year as a guide, it was December before the cars were out. (maybe very very late November on the west coast).

i think this is for all of 2012 year, not MY. Prius facelift should come out by mid 2012.

I'm not following you, we are talking about the regular prius, not the v, plug in etc. So you are saying you feel the 2012 prius will not be out until mid 2012? If the 2012 prius does in fact have refreshening done to it as mentioned in the article I think we will see them by december 2011 or January 2012 like we did on the 2006 models.

Thanks for the information. Besides a possible Entunes option, I'll be curious to see if the MY12 will have additional features currently listed for the Prius v.

I'm predicting the headlights and tail lights change will be full LED for parking lights, turn signals and reverse lights.

Yes, would be great if all exterior lightings were LEDs. I also hope they add some color to the display just like the v and the extra digit for mpg readout.

Does the 2012 Prius v even have full LED taillights? I suppose the refreshed 2012 Prius should have something over its wagon counterpart in order not to look too dated and it better have Entune for sure.

The "problem" started with the ignorant public, who insisted on calling the V as "vee." It's pronounced "five" as it's a Roman number. The v (wagon), on the other hand, isn't pronounced "five."

Fortunately, this problem will diminish over time once the ignorant public are forced to address the new naming convention properly. "v" will no longer be confused with "Five."

I can't wait for the new model; must order soon so I guess it'll still be a 2011 (told 8-12 weeks for delivery).
