Looking for clarification on what part I need to install a CD player in my 2003 Prius. The car did NOT come with a factory CD player, but I was told one could be installed in the lower slot on the dash (which appears to be for storage) and it would integrate with the display panel above. If this is true, I need to get the "fit kit" to mount this, but I've read conflicting information on the part I need. The CD player model I purchased from eBay was model "T9200" and part number 08601-00870.

To install this, do I need one or more of these parts?

    A. 08695-47020 Mounting Kit, older CD player
    B. 08695-47800 Mounting Kit, newer CD player
    C. 08695-00370 Y Adapter

I *think* I need A and C, but would appreciate one or more confirmations on this. Thank you.

The 08695-00370 has TINY pins in the Y Adapter. I need to know what is the correct Y Adapter to put in a CD Player which it part number 08601-00870 into a 2002 Prius??? Please help. I bought the Y-Adapter mentioned and the tiny pins will NOT work with the wider flat pins on the back of my oem radio and cassette player.

    Please help!!!

    Hi Alan,

You for sure need the 'y' adaptor if it doesn't come with a used CD player. The way this works is, you unplug the big vehicle harness wiring plug from the original radio, plug this car harness into the 'y' jack, then plug the 2 remaining 'y' plugs into the original radio and also the new cd player. It just taps into the radio wiring this way to use the display for track and stuff, and also gets power from the radio itself I think.

You should be able to easily do this job by just removing the lower front console panel, dropping the glove box door down to the floor or removing it, and reaching behind the radio to unplug it. The 'y' harness is marked so you'll use the right leg for each item. Just don't short out the power wire in the 'y' harness that goes to the cd, I think there may be a fuse inside the radio that would blow (that cable supplies bat power to cd from radio too).Good luck with this, it's a nice thing to have.

Unfortunately I don't know which bracket and 'y' part numbers you need, maybe you can make a bracket or check in the Toyota Online Parts catalogs with pictures. It may be more apparent after you hold the cd in the dash slot. At least you could secure it with a piece of pipe strap or old radio bracket or something, and use it while they order the correct one...seems like they were just 2 simple bent 90 degree sheet metal pieces with holes.
