A lot of theists ask why are the non-religious so loud and angry in the U.S.

This is why we're loud and angry.

This relentless campaign is tiresome and it's only accomplishment so far is to paint you as a deeply disturbed and angry individual Stev0. Get some help.

    God Bless

Yes, being threatened with death by 8,000 people disturbs me. Being threatened with death by 8,000 people makes me angry. I'll take all the help I can get for getting these god-happy folks to just leave me the frak alone.

Come on Stev0 even an individual that is totally biased should be able to differentiate between a claim of 8,000 death threats and the actual evidence of 8,000. I only see a few post find the rest and prove they're valid then you can credibly post this thread. Until then it's just more baseless claims in an attempt to paint a group of people in a bad light.

I'm not trying to paint all theists in a bad light. Hey, I even have a friend who's a theist!

Fox News, in a rare show of intelligence, deleted the thread, so I can't dig them up. But even if I could, I imagine if I only dug up 7,999 you'd say "Ha! I knew you were lying!:"

Anyway, they whole point is some narrow-minded individuals call non-theists "disturbed" and "angry" [citation needed]. I just thought someone might want to know why we were angry, but I guess blind hatred is easier and more fun, so forget I ever mentioned it.

This would make a lot more sense if Bible-thumpers here were picking on the non-religious. Not only is that not happening, the insults are consistently from secular at religious members - seldom the other way around.

This secular anger totally undermines your evangelism, makes it unappealing.

BTW, I don't approve of death threats. I do understand why a lot of people resent having their religious expression suppressed.

I've personally known a number of non-religious people and as a group they are not anywhere as angry as the ones on PC threads like this one.

Lots of other things happen outside of Priuschat - that doesn't stop us from discussing them. This is a societal issue, and talking about it here is not necessarily a result of something that was said here.

Yes, just like being told to go to hell, or like death threats, and then eternal torment. Where does such anger and hatred come from? All against the 'crime' of non belief? Such treatment is far beyond being 'insulted' or 'suppressed', and typically comes well before any response from the non-believer.

Well if life after death is supposed to be so good, then why not jump the line yourselves and leave us be?

Not that long ago, I discouraged someone to avoid posting an anti-atheist thread - you knew about that behind the scenes, hyo silver. The reason it nearly happened is a couple of you lingered overdoing that last dig.

    Some of you guys ARE BITTER - nobody attacks your beliefs on PC but you go out of your way to make religious people feel unwelcome at PC with ridicule and insults....only have to look at this thread to find it. You rationalize it by saying you get attacked out and society in general so "it's not personal" then insult any one with a religious viewpoint at PC - doubletalk. You scream about how badly atheists are treated in general, then threat Christian members exactly like that, angrily rationalizing it. {sigh}

I've know in person a number of people that are not religious, but they don't go on and on an on like on threads like this one.

Note I say "some" .... a few just can't stop fighting or understand "agree to disagree." While occasionally there are things to fight for, in many cases it makes you wonder about that person, and I do wonder.

At one time I was oblivious to the fact not everybody wanted to hear about Michael W. Smith's latest album or Rick Warren's latest message....I check my audience when I'm away from church. On the other hand, a few atheists seem to think PC is "their church" and entitled to harass and run off others.

This is just like on a societal scale - some are wanting total secularization that bans any religious expression, yet allowing promotion of atheism - having it both ways.

I might as well be dealing with road ragers - they are out of control and go from bad to worse with no inclination to exercise decency. And so it is with a few of you on the atheist side - you absolutely refuse to live and let live, consumed and addicted to your anger.

traditionally we are the country of religious tolerance.. which by definition we cannot tolerate non-religious atheism.

I wanted to jump in with some bitter, over the top remark about not being bitter, just as a joke to relieve some of the tension. Unfortunately I can't think of anything funny that will not be misconstrued as a real nasty comment, so let me instead stipulate that something funny has been said, insert a smiley face, and call it good.

Chuck.. have you considered that your runt is even more offensive then 2K1T??

Do you think you have the moral ground to complain about "religious people feel unwelcome" while making blanket statements about non-religious people and PC in general? Would it not constitute a so-called doubletalk? :deadhorse:

Deluded and absurd to suggest with this misquote Christians on PC are attacking like we have been attacked.

Get over your anger. Then your points and influence might improve.

    Not accurate actually...

We as a nation have always been tolerant of those that are sorta just like us... if you were different, not so much.

the religions of native peoples was never tolerated by monotheists of the USofA until just recently... and even then, a lot of those practices are still illegal...

In addition, there are numerous communities of folks across this nation that are intolerant of religious practices that are contrary to their own line of religious thought, and they have even made laws forbidding some things from happening on certain days just because of a desire to promote their religious beliefs and impose their restictions on all (eg: blue laws)...

Wow - several times in this thread I've said some people, atheists....still you and others prefer to lie I said: "all atheists."

    A few of you not only believe God does not exist, but half of my posts don't exist and misquote the rest to "prove" your point. {sigh}

This goes beyond a logical fallacy, but an issue that even therapy could resolve.

Understand why we're angry then your points and influence might improve.

I'd like to think Christians ARE capable of understanding, which is why I created this thread, but you seem dead set on proving me wrong.

If I posted an article about a group of African-Americans protesting where a man was lynched just for being black, would you post "Why are black people so angry?" No, don't bother, I already know the answer ("Yes, why wouldn't I?").

Not everything has to be taken so literally (bible included) :p

My previous comment makes you angry. Now think of the comments we get and how it makes us angry. I have not personally got a death threat I would consider valid. But I have got the "go to hell" and similar statements like I posted directed to me. The go to hell one I find funny, as if you don't believe in a fictional place, how can one go there. It is like Neverland, you must believe to get there. Although I would rather go to Neverland.

I don't care what you religious lot do, just don't preach it to me or make laws that govern me that have anything to do with it. Also don't restrict laws because of a religious reason. Then everyone can get along until the pearly gates where the big man picks a winning team. Of all the ones out there, it seems plausible that you have as much chance as I of being correct and picking the right one. The odds are not in your favour.
