    I don't think some amount of common ground should be that suprizing.

    The internet is not a very good medium for highly controversial topics - face to face is better because misinterpretations usually get corrected on the fly before the disagreement escalates.

    Not everyone is comfortable with threads that dwell deeply into religion, making these threads an excellent candidate for Fred's Political House of Pancakes.

    Fred's House of Pancakes has a dynamic, varied menu that should have something to please just about every palate. There's no need to order something you don't like.

    The surest way to see 'the religion threads' devolve into nastiness is to move them to the House of Politics. These conversations are far more civil and intelligent than anything there.

    Which is why A) I think there SHOULD be a Fred's House of Religion, and B) Like Fred's House of Politics, I would stay the hell away from it.
