Folding mirrors are just for novelty (especially in the US where roads aren't narrow) and cost a lot of $$$. GPG is getting everything including the Valenti lights and can well afford them. If you have to ask, you probably don't need them.

I just cringe inside every time this "regular customer" pulls up out front where I play the piano from time to time, cause he pulls up, gets out, comes walking toward the building and his mirrors on his Lexus both fold in. It's just the coolest looking thing....lol (oh, to be so easily entertained, huh?! ), and I secretly envy him every time I see it. SO, I decided I just HAD to find out where to get them and add them to my car. So, it's def a novelty, like 32kcolors said. Serves no real purpose here, other than self-serving! lol

Hey GPG did you ever get any word on the mirrors from the seller?

It's a holiday until maybe the 16th in Japan, so they won't be able to get pricing for all that stuff until everyone goes back to work or whatever....

Did you snag one? If so please report the quality of the paint when it arrives. It's one of the last mods that I plan to do before I go broke. :p

I just snagged a pair, so the ebay seller should have 4 left. I also opted to have the mirrors painted BP 070 from the seller for an additional $20.

Once I get the package, I will post pictures.

I have to admit, even if it is a novelty here in the states (and I agree with you on this), there's a sort of cool "007" factor sporting folding mirrors. Even more cool would be wiring them with to trigger with auto roll up windows via your FOB or SKS lock/unlock sensors. I wish I was filthy rich like GPG! :p j/k...not.

Very nice! Did you have the ebay seller send you a custom invoice for the additional $20 as part of the payment process? Looking forward to your pics when you get them.

I wish I knew where they get those white "covers", or whatever they are, that appear to be put on over the front part of the mirror "stalk" (not the big part of the mirror that the LEDs are on, but the "trunk" or "stub" part that actually attaches to the body of the car door. That's the part that Rodney had painted white to match the upper white part of the mirror. On the auction, there are a couple of pics where it's black, but then the rest all appear to have some white cover kind of thing on the front part of that stalk, so that the whole mirror looks white. I asked my body shop about painting that part, but they discouraged painting any parts of the car that came black from the factory, saying paint (generally) has a hard time sticking to those pieces, and the paint chips off easily over time. The aftermarket white cover thing might have more "paint endurance" than us just simply painting the stock black piece. Could be totally wrong on such an assumption, tho. I do know that I have painted mirrors white in the past on previous cars (that came black from the factory), and it did chip in no time. Anyhow, the seller said he did not have the white stalk part of the mirror, just the mirror cover for the upper/signal part of the mirror...

yah.. unfortunately, I have had problems painting front grills for the same reason.. Maybe use vinyl that closely matches the color of your car will do the trick? I had my whole roof top in black vinyl and it looked great!

Did you ask this same seller about the folded mirrors?

Rodney had a similar cover that partially covered the stalks before he had them painted white to match his BP color so you might want to ask him about that. Maybe find a different body shop that might be better at painting them to last?

Yeah, this was the seller that had told me about how they are using the folding mirror parts from some other model's mirrors (they are much cheaper, supposedly, than what Toyota is charging for the same thing for the Prius, and are supposedly the same, or work just the same). He's the one who said that they were on Holiday in Japan until the 16th (today), so that he had to wait until then until he would be able to come up with pricing for whatever is required part-wise...

I'd prefer to have everything done at the same body shop, though, because I'm such a biotch about my cars, and they know (from past experience) how to "manage me", without making me go crazy over scuffs/scrapes/dirt/dust/etc. that body shops carelessly don't think twice about... I have this body shop "trained".. lol
