It's already available on the MY11 Prius. I saw one at the dealer last week.

I think what she meant is she hopes it continues to be available on the MY12 Prius. For all we know, they could offer this package this year but not next year depending on how well it sells.

    Yes, that's what I'm saying.

I don't know what "installed at the port" entails, exactly. I get the logistics of it, but I wonder under what conditions the bodywork is added (and perhaps painted), who does the alignment after the springs are swapped (and if it's a four wheel alignment), etc.

I'd like it better if the package were installed at the factory.

    Aww, shucks...
    :)

It's that darn Prius PLUS package which finally did it. I really like it, a lot. You might recall I lowered my '06 with the TRD springs and struts. So this is right up my alley.

I'm currently driving a Honda Fit, eeking MPGs in the high 30s out of it, thinking that same driving style would surely have me above 50 in the Prius. I do like the handling, the lack of rattles and the instantaneous MPG meter, the paddle shifters that allow the driver to hold it in gear on curvy roads, also the incredible amount of interior space. But the IP leaves a bit to be desired, it's rather juvenile for my tastes. Reminds me of an atomic cockroach.

Scared that the '12 Prius might still have issues with rattles (that sort of thing drives me bonkers); assuming/hoping the problem with the knocking engines has been ironed out by now.

I will say the little 1.5 in the Fit is sweet, sweet engine. I think Honda might make better four cylinder engines than Toyota does. North Florida to Northern California in two and one half days, 34.7 MPG over the entire trip, cruise control set at 90+ all the way across Texas, A/C blasting. Not bad for a significantly sub $20,000 car.
