It's about three inches long. A little toy Leaf with its own tiny charging station, all mounted in a plastic display case. The package was waiting for me when I returned home from my summer hiking. The enclosed letter thanked me for buying a Leaf and welcomed me to the "Leaf family." Stupid screwballs didn't even know that I cancelled my Leaf order after they screwed up my order for the fourth time and still hadn't shipped it a month after it was supposedly "cleared for shipping" from the port of Long Beach. I'm all in favor of hiring the handicapped, but maybe Nissan should have someone with an IQ higher than 3 running their ordering and shipping departments.

I'm not sure if I should keep the thing as a reminder of how patient I was, waiting six months from the time they originally promised delivery before I gave up on them, or if I should sell it on eBay.

That's a crock! After all your waiting all they can do is send you a toy car. There's no way any self-respecting individual would keep something like that as a constant reminder of how they jerked you around.

(I've sent my mailing address in a PM) ;-)

So Nissan sent you a present and you DIDN'T buy a car from them, but you spent $100,000+ on a Tesla and where's their toy? ;)

I can feel a strong email heading their way :D

They originally promised the car would arrive in January. People who placed their orders 4 months after I did got their cars months before I finally gave up on them. They lied to me over and over again. They broke promise after promise. They even sent me a VIN number and then changed their minds and took it back. Six months after the car was originally PROMISED to come, I finally decided to buy a better EV. And just to show how incompetent they are, their letter makes clear that they think I bought their car. That's really the point of my post: They're apparently sending these toys to people who bought the Leaf, but their whole ordering system is so haywire that they think I bought the car even though I actually canceled my order.

Oh, and there's a typo in my OP. The toy car is about 4 inches long.

Tesla gave me a whole box of swag when I placed my order. They gave me a toy Roadster, a baseball cap that says Tesla, a t-shirt, a key ring thingy, and I don't remember now what-all else.

And the Tesla is worth every penny! The Leaf is a good car. The Tesla is a great car. I'd have been happy with the Leaf if they had been willing to sell me one. I'm happier with the Tesla. Oh, and FWIW, the Leaf they were dragging their feet on sending a month after it was "cleared for release from port" was a damaged car that had been repaired in port for at least two defects, and they refused to say what were the credentials of the people doing the work, or what they were doing to keep the batteries charged during the three months it apparently sat idle in port.

Well done. I refuse to buy a car unless I get the full compliment of freebies - mats, keyring etc. A point of principle  (I'm not grumpy cabbie for nothing! :D)

A toy car? . . . That's the first I've heard of toys being sent out. . . And we've had our leaf about five months now.

Sell it on Ebay Daniel, but delay shipping 3 months to make it authentic.

I think someone from Nissan is watching you on this forum daniel... They probably thought it would be a great laugh to finally send you "your leaf". :D

Paint a T on it and tell people its the new hatchback Tesla.

Wait until he gets the invoice for his Leaf. He should have read the fine print in the sales agreement.

Maybe they only sent them to the people whose orders were delayed six months from the promised date due to their multiple screw-ups??? Or maybe they are sending them out in the order the cars were SUPPOSED to have been delivered, and I was supposed to have gotten my Leaf a month before you got yours? I don't know. Nothing surprises me from such a screwed up company.

The other day I stopped by the Nissan dealership to give the sales manager a ride in my Tesla. He wanted to see it, and I don't blame him at all for the screw-ups at the corporate office. His comment: He'd much rather have the Tesla than the Leaf. He's a sports car enthusiast and the passing resemblance to the Lotus Elise was a big selling point for him. He was impressed by the car; its handling, acceleration, and smoothness.
