Sounds like chain rattling on the right side

When I'm driving over sharp bumps I hear what sounds like a small chain jingling around. I took off the hubcaps and jacked up the car to see if anything loose. I grabbed the exhaust pipe and shook it, but it didn't make any noise. I couldn't see anything that would cause it. The front right strut's rubber cover is off so could the strut make that noise?

I just read a few posts with similar problems, but one was a compression sound and another was a knock, and another was a metallic hick up. Mine is literally like a loose high pitch chain noise and change rattling in your pocket. No uniformity to the sound. But it also only happens over quick small bumps not large ones like speed bumps.

Recently had the exhaust on my 06' replaced, the metal fairing around the exhaust, (it almost looks like a screen), was loose and making contact with the exhaust on bumps, the installer just took a torch and cut it off, there was another on the ground like it and I remembered a Lexus something or other being on the lift when I got there having it's muffler-tail pipe replaced.

The ghost of Christmas past perhaps.
This reminds me of that special muffler rattle all '57 Chev's' seemed to develop before they expired! :D

Hehe, I best check under the hood to see if Jacob Marely, or whoever his name is, is haunting my car. But it is a scrooge since it doesn't like to pay the gas stations too much for gas ;).

Many times it's an exhaust shield that causes rattles.

On my former 98 F150 truck, it was the sway bar link bushings. The originals had completely disintegrated and the bolt and washer that held them down were rattling in their mounts. Sounded exactly like a chain rattle going over hard bumps.

I jacked up the car, but I'll take off the wheels and really look close. From under the bushings all seemed perfect. Not even dry looking. On a side note I think I read where it said to wipe them down with something. I think it was vasoline or oil or grease to keep the rubber from drying.
