Lost the initial paperwork on my 2006 Prius, and lately I've been trying to figure out what Package I bought. I believe it was #7 because it has everything but the leather seats, BUT I can't remember there ever being any kind of alarm! I just went down and looked all over the car and in the owner manual and if there's an alarm that I haven't known about for the past 5 years, I'm a far stupider individual than I previously believed. Is it possible to have gotten a package #7 Prius without the alarm? Help!

:welcome: 2006 package has nav & no leather. There's no description of the system so I can't tell you what to look for. The antitheft system is in packages 5 through 8.

Well only one way to find out.

Wind the driver's side window down. Close the door and lock the car. Wait for the car to arm itself (the red light shaped like a car on the dash will go from solid to blinking), then reach in and manually rotate the door lock to the unlock position. The alarm should go off. To turn off the alarm, press the UNLOCK button on the key fob or simply get in and turn on the car.

As I recall they -all- had the alarm, just some were not turned on. The option was the glass breakage sensor, which is down low on the centre of the dash.

That was the ticket! Thank you, I have an alarm I knew nothing about.

It's the best kind of alarm. It doesn't bother you with false triggering, but WILL scare off morons if required.

That's correct. Those packages that didn't have an alarm basically had it disabled.
