iPhone 5 Coming Out: What are Your Thoughts?

On a scale of 1 to 5, my level of anticipation is 0

 

Low expectations. I'm betting just 1 phone with a speed bump- the 4s. The iPhone 5 will come next June, with the bigger screen and new processor.

 

The announcement is this week, not the release. It hasn't even tested by the FCC yet.

 

The only people who honestly like the iphone are those that don't understand technology or are ignorant to the options around them.

My phone boots into 3 different OSs and can do anything I throw at it... Not to mention I have been using touchscreen "smart-phones" for almost a decade now back with oldschool Windows Mobile.

I also consistently get better reception than those with iphones in the same area. It's not the carrier, it is the hardware.

 

What would an iphone5 give iin addition to the iphone 4 and will I actually need or use those features?

Personally I want a phone to work in poor reception areas with good battery life. I do not need a compromised hd video recorder or useless apps and video games.

Yeah I'm getting grumpy.

"My current iPhone has 1-1/2 years to go on its contract before I will think about getting a different phone."

 

LOL, I love it. I understand technology and I love my Apple products. From my Macs to my iPhones and iPads. I'm getting the new iPhone in Feb when I'm up for renewal.

 

None of the poll choices are right for me. I'm still under contract so I won't be upgrading until at least 3/2012, when I become eligible again (for a discounted upgrade). By that point, it might be worth waiting until whatever iPhone comes out that year.

 

All four of our family have Apple notebook computers, the parents each have Apple tablets, and my wife has the iPhone 3GS she is happy to keep using.

Phones are a mixed bag for the rest of us --
Daughter has a stripped Android, son has a no-name something or other, and I have a phone I have no plans of exchanging: a RAZR

 

The poll did not include my answer: I think Apple makes excellent products, but I have no need of or use for a smart phone. I have a stupid phone: All it does is make and receive phone calls. I have no plans to upgrade my phone. When it dies, I am likely to get another stupid phone. I do like my iPod Touch which is about two generations below the current one and I have no plans on upgrading it until it dies.

 

I'll wait for the iphone 10.

 

my wife just got a new stupid phone. they are down to only two models at at&t, stupid and stupider. i wonder how long before no more stupid?

 

Let make sure I have this correctly: you like schlepping around an iPod, a cellphone, presumably an address book, an appointment calendar, a camera, a travel alarm clock, a flashlight, a notebook, and maybe a calculator? And remembering to take all of that when you travel?

As for me, all I do is grab and go and it does all of the above and fits nicely in my pocket. Plus I have Internet access wherever I am.

 

But didn't the iphone3 do all the above? Why buy the 5? OK the 4 had 3g didn't it? but the 5, what will it offer that people could possibily need? (maybe other than good reception?)

 

Plan on updating to iOS5 when that's out, for my iphone 4. When I see the phone can't handle the software update, like they seem to do, we'll bite the bullet and upgrade the phones. We actually waited in line when they came out (12+ hours, embarrassed to say:crazy and would not ever ever do that again. We do like the phones, and the fit beautifully in the Prius.

 

You read it wrong because you're using iphone to view this page. Had you used a real phone you would have read what he really typed.
The reason why you read what you read is because Steve Jobs made the iphone to hide the real truth. You read what he wants you read. Had you gotten a real phone, you would've realize that.
The iphone is nice for grandmas, grandpas or someone with no knowledge of what a real phone does. For those who know phones, iphone is the biggest joke in the smartphone world.
Since the release of iphone in 2007, it's been playing catch up with the rest of the phones, including the dumb ones. First iphone, no 3G while rest of the world are already on HSDPA. They finally added that but forgot to add a video camera. Really??, no camcorder function on the world's most advanced phone? They fixed that with the 3rd one but didn't increase the screen size while other phones are getting higher resolutions and bigger and more vivid screens. They fixed the resolution on the 4th one and screwed up the reception. Now they finally realize hey, we're gonna need a bigger screen. How many revisions does it take for apple to realize that we need expandable memories and removable batteries? Do they even realize that LTE is here? Where's the 3D iphone? When are we gonna see a difference interface than the 5 year old icons? Firmware update without a computer?, WOW. Other has been doing it for years.
From its announcement in Jan 2007 to its release, iphone has gone from innovate to obsolete in less than 6 months and the phone wasn't even released yet.
The true king of smartphone is Windows Mobile. It's an operating system that's used in every portable device from industrial equipment to scanners, to ATMs, to smart phones, to PDAs, to music players, to automotive entertainment system because it's the most unlocked OS there is. Bill Gates: here, do whatever you want with it. The Windows Mobile hardware is the only hardware that can run alternative operating systems. Too bad Microsoft killed off WM6.5.5. Next best thing would be Android. At least Andorids have cool names. I'm gonna be Thrilled to have me some Ice Cream Sandwich.
