Assuming that what you meant was "5L/100km," then that converts to
about 45.5 mpg (US), if I have done the math right.

yeah it doesn't say 5l but i assume so, soo 45 mpg isn't all that great than.

Isn't the average suppose to be 60mpg ++

I'm driving on eco and driving slow already. Would i get better mpg if I was driving normal ?

The average is supposed to be about 50 MPG (US).
Frankly, I just drive the car in "normal" mode and average about 48-50 MPG between home and town (about 20 miles, up and down hills). On longer trips, I get 52+ MPG.

Rule #1 Salespeople are full of shit.

Did you read the EPA label on the window sticker when you bought it?

Regardless, the car is definitely capable of 60mpg but you have to have the right kind of commute and add in a little special driving to get those numbers or higher. You bought a great car and nothing else can beat the mileage so don't sweat it if you can't get 60mpg. :)

    oh ok, thanks :)

is there any mods i can do to improve to mpg ?

also is it true that you can get better millege with the normal mode as to the eco mode ?

for those that are getting 507.9 mile per tank, km equivalent is around 900 + km

when you fill up the prius to a full tank, doesn't the range on your display only show 710km max ??, where do the 200km + come from ?

    thanks

Yes if you are meaning the "Miles To Empty" on the trip meter only shows about 450-500 miles depending on what you current mpg is when you top off the tank.. For me I usually go an extra 50-75 miles (I have pushed it 100 passed but I do not do that anymore as I almost ran out of gas) once the "Miles to empty" reads 0. I do not really condone people doing that as it really depends on where you live, how far you drive, weather conditions, and how you drive as to how long past 0 you should go. Anymore I just fill it when it beeps and the bar starts blinking. You wind up spending the same amount of money on gas anyway without the risk of running out. Just means you visit the service station a little sooner.

It is not that there is an extra amount of hidden miles per say in the tank. In the Gen III's the tank is 11.9 gallons.. When I do my normal go 50-75 past 0 I put in anywhere from 10-10.2 gallons at fuel up. If I refill when the little bar starts blinking empty it will take somewhere around 9 gallons. So all you are doing is using the tanks "reserve," but you must keep in mind that the lower you run the tank the more chances you have of sucking tank debris into the pump screen. Also the fuel is used to cool the fuel pump, so you may also be shortening the pumps life. All you really need to do is experiment with your fuel mileage numbers, and I have gotten fairly good at estimating the amount of fuel left in the tank. The only thing that really throws me off anymore is if there is any highway driving in the mix. That was the time I almost ran out of fuel, and the car took just over 11 gallons before the gas pump clicked off.

As far as mods go to increase your MPG I would have to say you are more than likely out of luck.. Modifying the air intakes/exhaust will alter the engines back pressure resulting in most likely worse fuel mileage without having it dyno tuned to optimize the cars efficiency for the modifcations that would be done. I would have to say Toyota has most likely optimized everything they can to have the car get the incredible fuel mileage it does. With just bumping up the tires pressures to 44psi we can achieve mid-50mpg's while using the AC. My best advice to you for maximizing your fuel economy is to not run the battery down trying to drive it on electric mode. That was one of my biggest mistakes in the beginning. I would always completely drain it driving 35mph, and then it would drag my overall fuel mileage down while the car recharged it. Try to keep it at the top 2 bars, and that will give you the best fuel economy in hybrid mode at normal speeds.

As far as getting better mileage between the different modes.. ECO mode will run you climate control systems more conservatively, give you less battery/engine power for a given throttle press. So in theory ECO should give you the best mileage... What I have found personally though is if I am going to be driving 42mph or less I use eco... 43-60mph I use normal.. Anything above 60 I use PWR mode which gives you the most power availability at highway speeds. A lot of the stuff on here is just general guidelines though. You need to take the information, and experiment to find out what works best in your area for your driving needs. I think you will find though that regardless the Prius will get excellent fuel economy with little effort on your part. You only need to tweak the car/your driving habits if you really want to push the limits of what is possible.

Does anyone who is online now know where to get caps for the wheel center hole after the wheel cover is removed?
