Inverter Coolant Pump went out today.

I haven't had the coolant pump replaced on my 2005 yet, but I've been keeping an eye on it.

Today I made a routine inspection of the oil and fluid levels, and lately I've been including a visual check for turbulence/flow in the inverter coolant reservoir as part of my inspection. So I picked up on the dead coolant pump pretty quickly. At my last inspection a few weeks ago there was good flow and now there's none.

Well it looks like I should have had it replaced sooner, but I think I was probably lucky enough to catch it nice and early. There have been no warning lights or even performance issues so far and the weather is still fairly mild here at the moment.

Looks like I'll have to head off to the dealers on Monday and see if I can get them to replace it under the recall.

 

You mean it overheated just pulling out of a parking lot.

I thought it took a bit of sustained driving in hot weather before the inverter overheated due to lack of coolant flow?

I'm not exactly when mine stopped pumping because there have been no warning lights, it might have been yesterday, it might have been three weeks ago.

 

Yeah I hope I can get it fixed under the recall or wty. Do you know if any others have had it done under recall in Australia. We didn't get a recall notice and I cant find any mention of the recall on Toyota's Australian site. Seems pretty slack.

 

Thanks Drew. Yep it's seconds owner, but it was a Toyota certified used vehicle from a dealer. (Apparently it was traded-in on a Gen3).

 

Went to the dealer today and they confirmed that it's under recall.

So it's booked in to get replaced, only problem is they can't do it for two weeks, not until Oct 24. Looks like it wont get driven much for the next two weeks.
