    Here's alt-fuel, real old school--a De Dion steam runabout from 1884 still works:

    Of course back then steam wasn't exactly alt-fuel--as I understand it, it wasn't clear for quite a while whether steam, electricity or petroleum would dominate automobiles--or that they would make it in the market at all.

    What a waste of money. Sure it's a thing of history and of interest to certain groups and maybe collectors but $4.6 million? lol Come on they're having a laugh.

    Could you imagine driving that thing - a 130 year old high pressure steam vessel hissing away between your legs! :D
