One made its way to DE, somehow. I've ONLY seen one, and ironically saw it yesterday, I believe. As I pulled up behind it, I thought "hmmm, that's an odd spot for a badge on the trunk" (for an Altima) and saw it was a hybrid one. I also today saw my first Volt in the wild here, too. It was a "baby blue" color.

    Really?
Then how do you explain these? (from Nissan) :)

NISSAN | Nissan Unveils New Generation XTRONIC CVT and New Hybrid System for Front-Wheel Drive Vehicles

Are you saying Nissan is planning to put the power plant into some other model?

    nice cvt belt. not.

it seems pretty clear, even 14 years into this hybrid thing, that HSD PSD is the envy of all hybrid powertrains...NO clutches and NO 'metal' slipping belts.

I don't know WHAT they're going to stick that hybrid platform in. I'm just saying that it's evident they're planning to use it - whether it's the Altima or another model - who knows. Yes, THAT part is speculative.

If the Altima Hybrid was just to satisfy CARB Nissan no longer need to produce them. They will have plenty of carb credits for Leaf.

Also, they might want to use their own batteries instead of buying from someone else, when they make a new hybrid.

State governments might believe in, rely on "green" credits, but will the car buying "green" public...??

    I, for one, WILL NOT.

I don't either - that is why I bought an EV, instead of a hybrid :D

What the future rental market will need is a small highly efficient ~25HP/17500W CNG genset mounted on an also small single-swivel wheel trailer.

Like BMW, Nissan seems to view hybrids more as a badge on the fender but focused more on performance rather than economy.

Maybe this isn't so speculative now given Are You Ready For: Nissan’s Supercharged Hybrid? | The Truth About Cars. The Nissan PDF that TTAC attached says:
Whoops! TTAC and myself are way late to the game. Hill's post already has a link to the above PDF hosted by Nissan.

It will be interesting how it will stack up against the Camry hybrid. NAH may be faster with 3.5 liter power while TCH has about 3.0 liter power. It may come down to the weight that will dictate the fuel economy as well.

Now that I think about it more, maybe Nissan might put it in the Maxima. That's only available w/the 3.5L V6.

There are a some of other V6 only FWD vehicles in their lineup like the Quest and Murano. Perhaps if Nissan needs a "light truck" fleet CAFE boost, it'd make more sense to stick it in a "light truck".

Yes but the Altima is their bread 'n butter sedan and might get more attention than a Maxima.

I'd like to see it in the Murano (which already gets one of the best mpg in the midsize V6 market).
