    Hello

My wife and I moved to California from Florida in January. Nine months later we traded in one of (my favorite car ever) '06 Infiniti M45 (15.2mpg) for a Blizzard White Prius 3 w/ Navi.
She loves it and I'm searching to find out how I can fall in love with it like everyone else.
We paid $27,400 out the door ($25,149 before everything) and paid $1570 for an extended warranty (which I may cancel)

Any thoughts on the extended warranty if it's worth it or if I should just cancel?

    Thanks

Cancel the extended warranty then buy a few mods to personalize the Prius and you'll love it more. :)

    Nice. Welcome aboard!

Only you can answer the warranty question. Most have not had a problem one with the car, a few have. Depends on how you deal with risk. I didn't buy one but I am pretty mechanically inclined.

I'm thinking that's a good idea. I feel confident in the product and don't think we need it.

Should I contact the dealership to cancel the extended warranty? or just call Toyota tomorrow. Which one is easier?

I wish I could answer that but I was suckered into the extended warranty back in 2005 and because hybrid technology was still new I never canceled mine. Thus I never went through the process. I'm sure one of the other members of this forum can help advise you.

Congrats on your first Prius. :)

I, like most consumers magazines advise, don't do extended warranties (except for Chrysler products). You have an 8 yr warranty on the batteries which was the early worry, but the technology is getting pretty well proven by now. If you feel you really want it you can buy it for much, much less later (but before the three year warranty runs out.) (search extended warranty on here and find out the dealer(s) offering significant lower prices and remember you only accept the Toyota factory offering, not some aftermarket seller.)

I just got a 2011 base in Blizzard Pearl out the door for $25K even last week. Going to add the XM radio kit installed for $350 and the Homelink automatic mirror for $175 installed. Only other thing I need is the side molding to protect myself from my door dinging wife who parks next to me in the garage.

    Very nice!!!

As an update I went back to the dealership and removed the extended warranty.

Wifey said she didn't mind and I agree if I really want it b/t now and the next 3 years, it's still an option.

    Thanks for your help everyone.

If your following this link, I have a question. Is the $350 price from the dealer and how are you getting the mirror, I want to make those mods, and at those prices I would, thanks. I know I'm on the wrong coast, but any suggestions would be helpful.
