Consumer Reports: Ford slips in quality rankings - Oct. 25, 2011
I found it via the mistitled link from TM: Summary for Toyota Motor Corporation Common- Yahoo! Finance which reads Consumer Reports: Volt most reliable car. The article isn't only about Ford, GM or Toyota.

Another notable finding from the article is "Toyota's Lexus CT 200h hybrid was the most reliable vehicle of all, Consumer Reports said."

....the other thing CR said was this (Ford ratings slip) confirms their recommendation to avoid buying first model year car re-design versions if possible, as this is often where the reliability issues come in.

Of course, Toyota seems to do better on first year releases, but food for thought. Hats off to the early adopters, brave souls as they are..:yo:

Except for the second generation Rav4. That was CR's example case in how badly a redesign/new model can drop in reliability in an article from years ago. It's a risk with any maker. Better to wait a year. If you have to have it, order it over taking a car off the lot. The customer orders might be made after the assembly workers have had practice making runs for dealer lots.

I've only been a Prius owner for a week and a half so I didn't know what this particular sentance was referring to in the story "The Toyota Prius was among the top models, rebounding from brake problems that plagued the current design". Can anyone explain it to a newbie? Thanks in advance :)

This relates to FAQs on the 2010 Prius Recall | PriusChat, 2010 Toyota Prius ABS Brake Recall in Less Than a Minute | PriusChat and Prius Brake Recall. It seems to me that at least 3% of 2010 Prius respondents to CR's survey didn't follow directions.
