If I do the 68ohm resistor thing, will I lose steering wheel ac control?

I read the instructions to use the resistor then I don't need to power the stock radio, but if I can power the stock radio is that what keep the steering wheel ac buttons working? I imagine I can just push the wires for the resistor into the pin holes and add something to keep it in.

edit: it's for doing the stealth mod radio install with jbl amp in an 05.

If you leave the stock stereo plugged into the harness like F8L's instructions show, you won't need the 68ohm resistor. If you take it out, or don't connect it to the harness, you'll need the resistor to keep climate controls working.
I used the resistor that came with the Metra dash kit and it works fine. But you can't just push the pins into the Molex plug holes - they aren't strong enough. I stripped a little wire, wrapped & soldered to make the connection.

Ok thanks, that's good to know. I just wanted to make sure the controls worked on the steering wheel also and not just the touch screen. I can order a male plug and do what he did so I can power the stock head unit if I have to, but if I don't need to then I won't. Just to make sure the climate controls will work on both the steering wheel and the touch screen? thanks

    Yep, steering wheel controls work.
If you're leaving the stock head unit in anyway, definitely do it the way F8L shows. The 68ohm resistor was a pain in the neck. Very small wires to deal with.

I agree. Buy the extra part for $6 or so. It worked great.

I was never planning on taking the stock radio out so I just plugged the other harness back into the stock radio and it worked just fine. The instructions said to also power the stock HU, so I thought that was needed for the ac controls to work. I have bluetooth phone working fine with aftermarket radio. Only difference is I think the radio just cuts out on the left channel but the right channel still plays so if it is too loud I turn down the volume when a call comes in. I moved the front right base speaker to the rear and put a jbl 2-way 2-ohm in the front right, but still haven't changed the left side. The system sounds so much better with after market HU. I have HD radio so that helps make it sounds really clean.
