    Hi everyone:

I'm new here so I hope I've posted this in the right spot. I just bought a 2008 base model and there are component cable "ins" coming from the glove box. (As in I could plug the red, white, and yellow cables into these cables). I have no idea what these are for, and neither did the dealer I bought it from. Are they aftermarket modification? What might they do?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

They must be after-market. Presumably someone tied into the video of the MFD.

Any idea how they would work? Before we bought the car we had the dealer replace the MFD because the touchscreen function did not work. Do you think this aftermarket modification had anything to do with it?

Possibly. I know there is a composite video input in the MFD that is normally used for the backup camera. Some Prius owners have connected to that for after-market cameras, DVD players, computers, and the like.

Ok thanks! I'll stay away from them then. It was a hefty fee to replace that MFD, even with Toyota cutting the dealer a break.

If the dealer replaced the MFD, he should have seen where the wires were connected.
