    To xpcman:

I had the same problem with the brackets and the trim. I removed everything and used only the back end 2 holes and put the nipples in the oval shape holes. Didn't bother to do anything about the other nipples at the front since I couldn't put any screws anyway. This is almost the same position as on the stock radio. Not sure why the casing is not compatible with mine... (I measured everything to be sure...)
Anyway, put the HU back in, now the brackets were not exactly 100% aligned and flushed with the plates but at least I was able to put back the four 10mm screws. Now it's very sturdy and the trim fits perfect.

I also had the same problem with the Check Hybrid System warning.
Went around the block a couple of times. Problem went away.
May be I drained the battery too much during the install or may be disconnecting the stick was a bad idea... Not sure why.

Overall a bit dissapointed by the lack of quality of the casing.
Also there is no A2DP that I could see (should have done my homework better...)
Unless one of you guys know how to enable this?

Anyway, a cheap but decent HU; all the features seem to work so far.

I removed the battery (+) terminal on the battery.
Did not have the check hybrid issue.

If you don't use the bracket you should ground the radio to the screws.

Thanks - I pulled the Flyaudio unit out and remounted the brackets as you did. (using only two 8mm bolts per side) Now it fits perfectly.

With the unit installed here is a 4 day review.
1.) Face plate on radio is not a 100% perfect match. It has a tiny bit more texture but IMO not noticable at a glance and anyone else looking at it would never notice. The control face green LEDs buttons are a perfect match in color and brightness to the rest of the dash at night.

2.) The 45w x 4 really wakes up the sound in the stock prius II speakers.
3.) My FM reception has improved with the local strong channels locking in much better and longer. Not perfect tho. (in NJ)
4.) There is some sound equalization that has the following four levels and these settings:

    Level 1 - Flat-400Hz-800Hz
    Level 2 - 10kHz-12kHz
    Level 3 - 500Hz-1kHz-1.5kHz
    Level 4 - 60Hz-80Hz-100Hz

Also sound settings for Surround (on/off) sound:

    Stadium
    Studio
    Cinema
    Disco

5.) The DVD plays very well and the sound is enhanced when you hear it from all speakers.

6.) The screen is not very visable in direct sunlight. Even at the high bright setting.
7.) I can't figure out how to play MP3 from a USB stick, yet. Maybe you can't??
8.) TPMS tire monitoring is an option but not working becasue you need an add on module that is not easy to find for this unit.
9.) TV is another option requiring a module again but the module I found online, I can't believe they want $500 for it. So I will wait for that to come down or use a universal option later.
10.) GPS works fine and I am currently working on getting iGO primo to work on it like some other users have done.
11.) It is a 6.5 screen so it's a bit smaller than most DVD/NAVI coming out today.

I am very happy with the price, OEM fit/finish and what functions I have.

    my2cents.

Thank you very much for the information. Sounds like it's a good buy. I always found something that was missing was the Graphic EQ. Makes a world of difference.

And what about Bluetooth Audio Streaming (A2DP)?
Is this possible or not with this unit?

    About the USB sticks...

I did some tests and I was able to get an old 512 MB USB stick working with mp3.
But it has to be formatted as FAT ; FAT32 is not supported it seems...
I tried also with another 1G USB formatted FAT (with the same mp3s...). This one didn't work... May be because of the different cluster size... Not sure yet.

Another 8G stick and my phone USB didn't work either... probably because it's FAT32.

    Chinese quality...

Check hybrid will always occur *if* while you have the dash open, and have disconnected a cable (like the one on the panel that does to where the switch is), and power up the car. I've done this a few times (testing the radio before buttoning everything up)...

TV can be plugged into the aux port. I've run normal household HD boxes (most run on 12VDC) - but the antenna is the downfall. Have yet to find any way to get real decent HD (sometimes you can get 1-2 stations when stationary - but haven't had a good install)...

For the price you can not beat the plug and play if you do a basic install.

Non-basic is available if you decide to add amps and other modules or aux connections along with back-up camera.

I did the install in 35mins and will add the camera, amps with better speakers next summer.

    enjoy.

So I finally installed my Flyaudio unit. Thanks to xpcman for the photos on where to mount the brackets. It does fit perfectly!

I played with it for a while and everything seemed to work fine including the back up camera. The sound and radio reception is better than the original HU. I discovered some radio stations that I could not hear before.

I had everything working fine for one day and here is what happened yesterday. I was playing more with it trying all the features out and when I tried to calibrate the touchscreen by holding down my finger on the screen and turned on the car, the gray calibrate screen appeared as expected and after touching the "+" symbol a couple of times, a message came up. I think it asked if I wanted to "reboot" the unit and I said yes thinking that it has to reboot in order to accept new calibration settings but later the message switched to saying that it is "erasing flash" and it was too late to cancel it. Everything happened so quickly and unexpectedly without any warning that this may be detrimental to the unit. Now the unit does not boot up, the screen just flashes a couple of times and turns off, it does not even show the "Flyaudio" logo anymore. I cannot even remove the DVD from it.

I played more with it trying to fix it (it can't get any worse, right?) and discovered the following trick. If you hold your finger on the screen and turn the car on, the screen will eventually turn green and if you continue holding your finger, the screen will later turn blue and then finally red. At that point if you release your finger, the unit will begin erasing flash and once it is done, a message appears saying that "File @@@00000.FLY cannot be found. Try again? Y/N"? and at that point the unit stops responding regardless of whether you press Y or N. If you restart your car, the same trick can be done many times with same results. I later created a fake file with the same filename it was looking for on a microSD card and it appears to attempt loading it but since it is a fake file, the unit just starts. So I think I need the file to reload the flash.

I emailed Flyaudio US and Canada support describing what happened but have not heard back from yet. There is no phone number to contact them and there is very limited information online.

I hope I do not have to ship the unit to Flyaudio and I can fix it myself if they can provide that file to me. We'll see what happens...

There is a firmware update located at the Flyaudio forums.
There is also youtube videos on how to flash/update the firmware.

Since you are down and you can't hurt what is there look into it.

Take good notes for future users.
    Thx.

I have not seen anything about map updates on the Flyaudio web site.
