Plan an attempt to install my color keyed body side moldings this weekend. How bad can it be?

At least you're not Richard Hammond, James May and Jeremy Clarkson lol. "How bad can it be?" and something blows up or a drive-thru car wash catches on fire.

PearlJammer, another PCer had an article to help with BSM install. He said use a 'wooden batten' (sp?) to help line things up.

Any Home Depot store will have 1/4" x 3" x 8 ft wood. Makes a good straight edge so you can align the rear and front door side moldings. I practiced attaching the 'batten' all along the side and it looked like a great help.

Eventually decided not install the BSM set I had. Liked the original look after all.

Just a thought and hope that helps.

Thanks my friend. I'm gonna lay out the line with a yardstick and painters tape. Found some good instruction here on the forum.

Here it is.....Instead of a grease pencil, I used one of the new gel type yellow sharpies to mark my lines. Wipes right off when you're through. Took me about 20 minutes. Folded my mirrors in and then measured down from the body crease right where the the edge of the folded mirror meets it 8 and a quarter inches. Then measured down ten inches from the body crease one inch in from the rear edge of the front door. Connected the two marks using a level. Then ran the level across the vertical door line to the back door and contunued to draw the line for the rear piece. I think the moulding follows the natural waistline of the car. Figured the measurements just by sticking the moulding in place with painters tape and eyeballing, moving, eyeballing, moving until I felt the placment was visually correct.
    Very happy with the results.

Looks good (though the pics are really small). Clever use of the pen!

Nice work. I usually don't like side molding but the white color hides it well. :)

Shark fin is next...then maybe wood dash trim. Can't decide on what kind goes best with my dark charcoal.

Former C5 Corvette owners will remember the heated discussions on CorvetteForum about BSMs. I think I'm going to buy the silver rocker trim and have it installed when I take my car in for 5K service. It'll be a Christmas present to myself.

Yes, I remember that discussion. Didn't have them on my ZO6 but it wasn't a daily driver. Always was able to park it away from other cars. Don't forget to post pics of your rocker trim.
