I have a 2005 Prius with original Nav disk.
I used Emperex Dual DVD writer on XP. I used Windata DVD+R DL disks.
First I copied the content of the org nav disk on my hard disk. Then I used Imgburn to create iso file. Then I sued Imgburn to make the copy. I did not use any other options in Imgburn such as Book type etc. I simply loaded the iso and hit the burn command to burn the disk.
    It worked the first time.

Are you sure? The rar files are like 10k size instead of the 700mb. This is even after paying the month fee for the site.

Regardless, I bought the new v11.1 2 weeks ago.

Hope someone can benefit from what I found was wrong.

    Yes...

I just double checked all of the files and they are 700MB EXCEPT for the very last file for each version which will vary.

Try using a different browser and/or download manager. I recommend JDownloader.

Yep, my experience too with regard to the Gen5 NAV being unable to read burned discs. I myself made many coasters before I got to the point where I believe this is absolutely true. Very frustrating that it only seems to affect the Gen5 NAV in the Prius. Other Toyota and Lexus vehicles with Gen5 NAV seem to read burned discs just fine.

Also, if you load a burned disc the NAV may update some firmware that gets rid of the nag "Agree" screen at the beginning. However, that is all it will do and the maps on the burned disc will not work.

There was some discussion somewhere about swapping out the DVD drive in the Prius with a drive that can read burned discs. Anyone try this and get it to work?

Are there issues with reading discs between the different generations?

I followed the instructions for burning a dvd for my Prius 2005 for 10.1 upgrade. The DVD burned ok and was able to install in my system. It read OK and my nav system recognized it and I can see the updated maps.

Only issue I see is that when I try to setup a destination and click the Address button on the screen, nothing happens. it does not give me the next screen to enter the address.

I can go to the map and manually route and works.

Any idea or help in this regard?

    Thanks.

I'm about to try a back up of a GEN5 11.1 disk that supposedly will work in my 2005. If it works I'll help you find it as well. :)

Okay Gen5 v11.1 works in my 2005 Prius with just a couple of quirks. The screen is blank if you try to look at coverage area and the "data version" is blank, but 11.1 shows up in the maps version and my parents address which previously did not come up shows up great.

If you wanted to find this disc to make a back up of your purchased one I would recommend searching for "lexusnavgen5usa2k11" in your favorite search engine :) It should be 7-8gb.

I got a DVD from them.
    TOYLEXNAVDVD.COM
It is a pirated copy and it does not work. They list no phone number or address on their web site or on any of their receipts. They do not respond to Emails. I paid USPS tracking to deliver it back to the address on their shipping box. And, I am in the process of disputing the charge on my credit card.
