I live in Chandler. Testdriving one at Camelback. I plan to buy from Dianne-even if you were to ship it back, the bottom number would be less buying it from Dianne. Plus....Dianne rocks!

I was looking for a clear sky metallic/bisque level three but now am leaning towards the five for the fake leather seats. Hooray for choosing Bisque and a light colored car! Perfect for the desert! The bisque interior really opens up the inside.

Out here dealerships are charging a Document fee of $400+.
In Ca. the charge is regulated so the charge is $55 unless the bill passed then it would be $80. That difference alone would pay for shipping it back.

I would prefer to drive it back too. Does a brand new car need a break in period before driving it 6.5 hours straight?

From what I've read, as long as you vary the engine rpms during break-in everythng should be fine. We plan on sightseeing, visiting friends and relatives and wandering around for a few days on our way back to AZ. That should provide adequate variation in rpms to do a decent break-in. In addition, I always have the oil and filter changed at 1,000 miles +/- just to get rid of any maunfacturing debris and metal filings from break-in. I'm not claiming that this is the best break-in method but this is my plan.

Bringing this topic back up now that my wife and I are picking up our v Three this Sunday... One of the first things I want to do is replace the rear view mirror with an autodimming/homelink one, the exact one in the v Five. I think this is the one in the v Five, can anyone with a v Five confirm? http://www.amazon.com/Gentex-GENK40A-Homelink-Mirror-Auto-dimming/dp/B002Z600DY

As it happens, I have a v 3 and the one feature that I would have really wanted is an auto dimming mirror. My previous car, a Camry XLE had both HomeLink and and an auto dimming mirror.

The only problem I see with this mirror is that there is some wiring involved. Where would the mirror get its power from? How do you find someone sufficiently reliable to rip up the upholstery on your brand new Prius to install the wiring?

As an alternative, I found this: clip-on Auto Dimming Mirror
Of course, it will not look as neat and may also not work as well.

there are people like me who have worked a lot with cars and interior electronics who could tackle something like this without much hassle. However, the hurdle I have to now face is not the wiring, but gaining my wife's approval to mess with her new car! If she lets me, I will post more details.

And being the perfectionist I am, I would never consider a clip on, that's just personal preference

So thanks to the search function, I found the topic I was looking for. Any #5 owners care to add any thoughts or opinions on the LED headlights...are they worth it?

The definition in the specification listing "LED headlamps with auto level control, auto on/off feature and headlamp cleaners". I guess I missed it at the dealer, but I didn't see anything to clean them (externally).

As mentioned, I will definitely do a test drive a night, but just thought you could share your thoughts for other newbies as well.

    Thx

    Good stuff!

The washers are "hidden". Look for the small squares beneath the headlights on the exterior. They pop up to reveal the high pressure washers. On the inside, the headlight washer button is on the left, near the mirror switch.

We were in the same delimma! After a lot of thought and consideration we went with the Model 5 and the tech package. Couldnt be happier with the choice! Plus one day when we want to trade it in or sell it the value will be there!

Congrats! I just moved from Rocklin to Woodland but my work and all of the nature preserves I manage are in the Lincoln to Auburn area.

If you want a big boost in mpg you could downsize your wheels to 15s or 16s. Handling will suffer though. :)

S omeoneearlier asked about the LED headlights. Yes they are really nice but they are not worth the money unless you like other items in the 5 package. You can always put an HID into the halogen projectors in the lower trim packages. Many people have done this and are very happy.

Can anyone answer this question, does the Prius v turn signal stalk have the quick tap feature to active 3 turn signal cycles (lane change)?

I've really grown accustomed to it in my smart car.

    Thanks,
    Andy

I have too and also hope it's on the Prius. (I don't think it is though.) I'm going to miss the auto wipers though, BIG TIME! At least I'll still have the smart, to drive in bad weather!

No, it doesn't have that feature. For lane changes one pushes and holds the lever partway and the signal will flash until the lever is released.

Nope and it's one feature I liked about my smart as well.
